    The state of Maharashtra is among the top five states in India in terms of overall species diversity. The Sindhudurg Coastal and Marine Ecosystem (SCME) has enormous economic significance being one of the major fish landing centers and as a rapidly emerging tourism destination. The immediate objective of the project is to mainstream biodiversity conservation into production sectors that impact the coastal and marine ecosystems of the Sindhudurg Coast of Maharashtra.
