Job Summary

Advance Family Planning (AFP) is an advocacy initiative comprising more than 20 partner organizations working globally to increase the financial investment and political commitment needed to ensure access to quality, voluntary family planning through evidence-based advocacy. Population Foundation of India (PFI) is one of the lead partners for AFP in India, working in the two most populous states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. In these states, the AFP program focuses on advocating for policy changes with the objective of increasing the focus on family planning issues, especially at the district level.

The Programme Officer will provide support in coordinating the planning, management and execution of all activities and interventions under the Advance Family Planning 2 (AFP) project being implemented in certain districts in UP.  

Key Responsibilities

Coordination with district authorities including the Chief Medical Officers  and District Health Society for formation of working groups to advance Family Planning  goals in the district

Provide ongoing technical support to district nodal agencies including the  government and other authorities at the district level to facilitate implementation of the work plan

Collect district level data on family planning and support in the analysis

Support team in implementation of district  level advocacy strategies

 Participate in  district level meetings, forums and trainings including organizing meetings

Support the M&E and Documentation of the district level  activities including developing case studies

Support capacity building initiatives at the state and district level as required

Any other activity that may be assigned

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification • Master’s degree in one of the disciplines including but not limited to social science, social work, public health, development studies or related fields from a reputed educational institution Work Experience • Experience in liaison with State and district government authorities. • 4-6 years of experience in Advocacy and Communication specifically on reproductive health and family planning.

Desired Candidate Profile

Post Graduation - MSW

Skills

Understanding of contemporary issues related to Family Planning at the policy level and community level.

Ability to effectively manage relationships with government officials, NGOs/coalitions, community groups and other stakeholders.

Knowledge of health systems in UP

Familiarity and understanding on advocacy and communication strategy development tools and theories

Strong coordination skills for implementing advocacy campaigns
