Job Description

This position is responsible to develop and deliver robust programme strategies and models that are quality assured. The position has to ensure that every child engaged by the programme is safe and experience sustainable outcome. For the programmes to be implemented without any obstacles the position is expected to develop and maintain critical stakeholder relationships.


Key Responsibilities


Strategy

  1. Design and implement an annual programme strategy that includes goals, priorities and timelines, as well as a scope
  2. Ensure sound programme budgeting, forecasting  and expenditures aligned with Programme Annual Plan
  3. Think through strategies, apply innovation for continuous improvement of the programme and developing new models
  4. Ensure efficient Programme implementation, Operation Management, review and strengthening of RCI’s annual plan for Programme department
  5. Ensure the efficient implementation of organizational capacity building calendar for RC team, partners and other external stakeholders.
  6. As a member of Senior Management Team, actively participate in organisation decision making


Operations, donors, Stakeholders management & reporting


  1. Ensure the Delhi Sarairohilla (DSR) Programme is implemented in adherence to RCI’s quality standards and provide guidance to the Project Manager
  2. Constantly maps and reviews critical programme related processes and ensures adherence
  3. Builds campaigns with the marketing team and ensures its implementation, which constantly raises the profile of the issues of children alone and at risk.
  4. Ensure that partners develop and follow a robust child safeguarding policy
  5. Develops and manages key relationships with government and non-government stakeholders, that are necessary for the successful delivery of Programme strategies
  6. Engage with UK team for seamless fund transfers, data sharing and contribution to programme decision making
  7. Manage relationship with partners and ensure effective partnership management cycle is followed, timely resolution of a crisis and quality standard adherence by partners
  8. Contribute to the fundraising process, especially Corporate & Institutional fundraising by way of concept note and proposal writing and corporate meetings as and when needed
  9. Efficient donor management including reporting and constant management of expectations
  10. Maintain updated Programme MIS
  11. Develop New partnership in line with the strategic plan. (Partners scoping, Due diligence and negotiations)
  12. Managing the crisis both internal and external.
  13. Develop programme budgeting and track utilisation trend and guide the programme accordingly.
  14. Ensure finance systems are strengthened across partners in coordination with finance department.


Team performance management

  1. Clearly defines the performance expectation and deliverables with each team members and support the team in prioritization tasks
  2. Manages the performance of team member’s through monthly 121, quarterly review and annual appraisal.
  3. Ensures that the capacity building needs of team members are identified and addressed.
  4. Motivate and empower the programme team to deliver their role efficiently


Recruitment

  1. Participate in the interview process for new staff, providing contextual information on programs and realities of the position, and selection for key positions as identified with the recruiting manager.
  2. For new-hires, support recruiting manager to provide briefings on context, strategy and programs as initial step in the new employee induction process.


General duties

  1. Uphold and work within Railway Children India’s policies and procedures.
  2. Conduct yourself in accordance with Railway Children India’s Child Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct Policy in personal and professional life – which includes reporting suspicions of child abuse or any other breach of these policies.
  3. Actively promote and embody Railway Children India’s core values of Integrity, Bravery, Innovation and Effectiveness across the organisation and partners.
  4. Minimum 10 days Travel to Railway Children India’s field operations/as and when required.
  5. Undertake any other duties, as appropriate to the post, as delegated by the line manager.


Eligibility Criteria

  1. Minimum 15 years of relevant work experience in development field with prior experience in a strategy-based position
  2. At least 3 years’ experience in child rights programming is desirable
  3. Post-graduate degree in Social Work/Social Sciences/Social studies or equivalent is essential.

Desired Candidate Profile

Post Graduation - MSW

  1.  Should have lead regional/state level teams and have had accountability for large goals in his/her previous assignments
  2.  Strong strategic, analytical, project management and document skills
  3. Decision-making and problem-solving skills
  4. Excellent planning, leadership, interpersonal, collaboration, team management skills
  5. Proven ability to be flexible in a team-oriented approach with diverse groups of people
  6. Proficiency in English, Hindi and preferably any other regional language/s
  7. Proficiency in MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  8. Sound understanding of results-based management approach to programme planning, budgeting, review and monitoring systems is desirable
  9. Knowledge of Juvenile Justice Act and its implementation status in India and relevant other legislations/schemes/policies related to child rights protection in India is desirable
