Mapping of leather craft practices across India.
Identifying clusters practicing traditional vegetable tanning. Detailed documentation of tanning and the craft process focusing on sustainable & unsustainable practices, shift over the years, challenges of small/medium leather industries and domestic/global market compliances.
2-3 leather craft clusters will be identified practicing vegetable tanning.
Detailed process documentation of vegetable bag tanning at Jawaja Leather Association, Beawar to set a comparative analysis of best practices with other clusters across India in order to foresee cross-learning or knowledge exchange in the future.
Quantification of use of water and chemicals in processing.
Literature review and methodology for the study.
