LOCATION: Mumbai, India

PURPOSE:

The Asia Society India Centre is currently seeking a highly organized, resourceful and creative individual with up to five years’ experience in developing and co-ordinating complex programmes on economic, geopolitical, political, health, education climate change and security related subjects. The focus areas will be countries and cultures across the Asia-Pacific region, and global relationships and issues that impact the region. The position is currently home based but will eventually be working out of the Mumbai office.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Research, evaluation, and execution of multiple-level programmes for local and global audiences on economics and business, political developments, security, history, governance and other issues of importance to Asian societies, such as technology, the environment, health, and education;
  • Effective administration of all programming activities, including programme development and research, programme communication and effective digital and physical implementation. 
  • Developing, writing, editing and utilizing appropriate communication vehicles, including programme flyers, newsletters, the Asia Society website, programme transcripts, research papers, and digital media channels like Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook to advertise programmes and interest areas, as well as to expand the reach of programmes;
  • Understanding and using latest technologies and “best practices” for programme execution;
  • Engagement with the Asia Society India Centre members and other community groups to ensure appropriate attendance at all programmes;
  • Assistance in identification and development of corporate and other private supporters for programme series, as well as individual programmes;
  • Writing and editing of project descriptions for marketing and/or fundraising purposes;
  • Active development and maintenance of relationships with prospective programme resources, across Asia Society centres with a particular focus on relationships in India; 
  • Special focus on expanding Asia Society’s network of opinion leaders in business, policy, civil society organisations, academia, government and the media;
  • Continuous collaboration and integration with the Centre’s membership team to ensure programmes are responsive to member interests, with a particular focus on the development of programming for special membership categories in order to encourage the growth and enhancement of donor base.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Up to 5 years of work experience, preferably in a programming role within a non-profit or think tank. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Asian Studies, Political Science or International Relations is required. Master’s degree preferred;
  • Excellent organizational, written, verbal and computer skills;
  • Ability to work with a wide range of people and personalities in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and follow through on details; 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and interest in the Asian region is imperative;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook and Zoom) required. Knowledge of Photoshop, iMovie, Mailchimp, Canva, MAC OSX preferred;
  • Fundraising experience desirable.
