Job Description

Position Overview:

The Fundraising Associate, Mumbai or Delhi, will play an integral role in helping Room to Read meet its annual goal of raising US$ 60MM globally by managing a portfolio of   individuals, corporations and foundations through cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of relationships. Additionally, this position will lead India Fundraising events and support administrative tasks as needed. This position is based in Mumbai or Delhi and will report to the Fundraising Manager, India, and is part of the global Development and Communications (DevCom) team. The work will include partnering with team members across Room to Read’s global offices. We are looking for a dynamic, motivated team player who is committed to our cause and has a track record of delivering results. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Raise and manage a portfolio of US$500K revenue with a stretch of goal of USD 750K per year from corporations, foundations, and individual donors.
  • Build long-term relationships with corporation and foundation donors and prospects, identifying, cultivating, and stewarding their interests.
  • Collaborate with India Fundraising Manager and Development Director, South Asia on corporation, foundation and individual fundraising strategies in India.
  • Lead India Fundraising Events, which may include supporting team managing the guest list, event communication, and co-manage relationships after the events. 
  • Lead marketing partnership accounts for India and manages key donor accounts where high levels of employee engagement or cross-market collaboration are required.
  • Proactively build pipeline for grants, awards, and prizes from corporate and foundation donors in India, and collaborate across teams to pursue new investment opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with donor engagement team on India donor engagement activities.
  • Support Development Director, South Asia and India Fundraising Manager on donor stewardship meetings pitches, concept notes, proposals wherever needed.

Other Responsibilities 

  • Represent Room to Read at CSR conferences, fundraising events, and donor cultivation meetings.
  •  Collaborate with other relationship managers globally on key accounts to ensure global coordination.
  • Contribute to India fundraising strategy and growth plan.
  • Independently, or in collaboration with the Grants and Publications team, write, edit and/or coordinate clear, compelling written materials, including concept notes, letters of inquiry, proposals, presentations, reports, and additional materials as needed. 
  • Stay current with organizational strategies and operational plans to present accurate funding opportunities to donors. 
  • Maintain current donor records in Salesforce.
  • Other duties as necessary.

   

Qualifications: 

Required: 

  • Proven track record of obtaining corporation, foundation or individual funding in the $10,000 to $100,000 gift range 
  • Excellent writing, editing, verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Demonstrated understanding on India CSR grant provisions.
  • Strong cross-cultural communications skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant work experience from nonprofit.
