Job Description

Position Overview:

This position is based in a state office. The PO will be accountable for quality field implementation across the state, constantly evolving teams and ensuring that the program achievements are taken to the government to advocate system integration. The PO will be directly leading a team of PAs and will be closely working with the country team to ensure that implementation across various program sights are on time and of super quality. The PO will also ensure that the ecosystem around the program sights is constantly engaged and energized. S/he will work very closely with the state manager to ensure that all documentation has programmatic insight and is of best quality. The person is expected be passionate about the issue and lead the discourse at the state level with various stakeholders.

This position will report to State Manager /State Coordinator.


Duties & Responsibilities:

A) Ensure Program Quality:

  • Regular field visits and observe the implementation of pre- decided quality benchmarks in the field basis the LS observation form
  • Facilitate discussion with PAs/ SMs around quality and ensure its implementation at the field level
  • Facilitating program audit in the field and ensuring the implementation of its corrective measures
  • Data validation and physical verification of scholars in field
  • Ensuring Quality standards are being implemented as per program guidelines
  • Ensuring Quality standards are being implemented as per program guidelines
  • Regular updates and inputs to INCO on quality benchmark implementation


B) Coaching and Capacity Building:

1. Manage Program Associate:

  • Support PAs to ensure they are providing targeted and appropriate support to SMs, support PAs to facilitate group discussions with the SMs.
  • Ensure PAs know how to coach SMs to identify and support girls at risk of dropping or failing out of school using Room to Read’s risk and response protocol.
  • Proving Regular Feedbacks and handholding support(coaching) to PA on documentation and other related tasks.

2. Training:

  • Organizing and facilitating donors/ INCO/ govt visits
  • Preparation for team training and capacity building of SMs
  • Coordinate with other POs/Program Manager to implement GEP activities- e.g. participate in special task forces as agreed
  • Participate in review meetings and trainings at INCO


C) System Integration:

  • Liasoning with Govt. organizations to explore the channels to provide technical support
  • Extending the Contracts/MOU, taking approvals etc. with SSA and RMSA
  • Participation in government meetings - participation in their AP&B, attending steering committee meeting, attending any strategic meeting as a technical advisor etc.
  • Interaction with DPO/DRPs and DEOs in new geographical areas

D) Larger Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Networking with different NGOs for visibility and Linkages in different levels from village level to state level and conducting the events
  • Interacting with media pers
  • ons for program visibility and exploring the possibilities for program documentation.
  • Explore state level scholarships, schemes available for girls and link them to the same. Create a road map to ensure girls avail the same.
  • Identify local referral services for the girls including counselling, health services etc.
  • Identify and strengthen community development structures (SMCs, VCPC) for creating safety nets for girls and strengthening similar institutions at the State level.


E) Annual Budgeting & Planning:

  • Tracking budget utilization on regular basis and guiding program associates on cash forecasts, fund projections and transfers.
  • Planning the activities/ reprogramming and sending request to ensure the utilization of surplus (unspent, underspent and savings) budget.
  • Involve in the state and national level discussions and plan the activities for upcoming year in Annual Planning and Budgeting exercise.
  • Verifying and recommending bills and expenses.


F) Planning, Monitoring, Reporting and Documentation:

  • Review of Program reports received from the program associates and compiling of Program-MPR for INCO
  • Preparing CMT & Program dashboard, Ops MPR and MIU
  • Writing and reviewing the government reports, QPR to INCO
  • Location wise cohort risk analysis to combat the issues proactively.
  • Tracking, planning and conducting alumnae events
  • Collecting information and writing case studies, donor reports and INCO requirements


G) Team Management:

  • Responsible for reviewing the performance of your team members, like goal setting process, mid-year and annual performance review
  • Conducting 1 to 1 meetings on monthly basis with supervisees and provide all possible support in their capacity building

Required:

  • Master’s degree in education/Social work/development studies/Gender or social sciences.
  • Experience of working in the areas of elementary/secondary education, girls’ education, gender, school development and life skills
  • Experience in developing training modules, conducting trainings and managing events.
  • Ability to travel frequently and spend time in the field.
  • Fluency in language spoken by girls in the state.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English and Hindi/or the local language of the state where position is based
  • A range of 6-8 years’ experience in working
  • Prior experience in planning and facilitating trainings.
  • Prior experience coaching others.
  • Good interpersonal skills and a team player.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills including the ability to monitor progress of program implementation.
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously and take initiative.
  • Prior success working closely and building relationships with diverse groups of people.
  • Experience working with and or counseling adolescent girls.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • English fluency.


Preferred:


  • Prior experience living and/or working in rural areas.
  • Prior experience working with schools, teachers, and government officials.
