Location                                                       : Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka State

Type of engagement                          : Consultancy position on Contractual basis

(Initially contract will be a year period and shall be renewed based on the budget and program progress

Reports to                                                    : Sr. Manager, Banking PartnershipsIndia

Administration of the engagement     : Through third party HR agency

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work within a global team environment to implement water and sanitation financing programs in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. Oversee planning, coordination, reporting, implementation and monitoring of the program in both state;
  • Coordinate and support field implementation of the program with WaterAid India team and implementing partners
  • Support training team and Provide trainings on continuous basis to multiple stakeholders specially implementing partner on WASH financing
  • Ensure implementation of WASH financing program for community and household level
  • Conduct field visits across the project districts in 2 states extensively, provide support to the ground implementation team by and to participate in the meetings to identify the gaps, provide inputs / feedback and suggest course correction, as necessary. 
  • Work with government, non-profits, multi-laterals, and various internal stakeholders, to ensure project goals and deliverables are well designed and documented.
  • Ensure programs are well executed against specific grants and objectives. Prepare periodic programmatic work plans and project budgets, in line with donor and mission conventions.
  • Continuously monitor and supervise program activities, oversee technical design, execution, and evaluation of progress, through outputs and impacts, using both quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Support and contribute to communications with staff, regarding program deadlines, training objectives and monitoring/evaluation activities. Provide leadership and guidance to field staff on the direction and implementation of projects.
  • Liaise with state, district and block administration and other line departments, local government, and NGOs, to enhance their participation and collaboration.
  • Assess training needs and ensure successful execution of objective-based adult learning programs, as needed
  • Manage training teams; ensure adherence to training calendars and coordinate with trainers on day-to-day basis for monitoring purposes

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:  

 

Qualifications:

 

Applicants must possess a post-graduate, or equivalent, from a reputed, globally recognized institute. Specialization in Project Management, Finance, Water and Sanitation or Rural Management, Training and development will be an advantage.


Experience:

  •  Minimum seven years’ experience in managing multi-state projects, preferably on water, sanitation, and hygiene with combination of knowledge of microfinance
  • Applicants with strong corporate experience of managing complex rural projects, would also be considered.
  •  Experience in team management, working with multiple stakeholders and cross functioning teams.
  •   Experience in working with government/Grass-root NGOs/WASH Financing programs would be given priority

Skills:

  •  Demonstrated leadership in managing multi-year projects, supported by government, bilateral or multilateral agencies.
  •  Strong analytical and presentation skills.
  •  Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate in English, Telugu, Kannada is MUST and Hindi as preferable.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work with various program leaders to bring about clear objectives, and cohesive action plans.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to work well with those from various backgrounds and cultures.
  •  Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team of individuals with diverse expertise.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, conceptualize and deliver effective programs

 Travel Requirement: Involves intensive domestic travel within the districts and intra districts / states as needed. Travel will commence as is advisable given business needs and safety considerations as determined by organizational guidelines.

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:

 

The gross consultancy fees budgeted for the position is attractive. Offers shall be commensurate with the qualifications, experience and salary history, of the selected candidate.
