Role Type: Contractual – 2 years fixed term contract, renewable

Location: Assam / West Bengal – Kolkata preferred

Reports to: Supply Chain Specialist

Hours of Work: Full Time, Flexible

Role Purpose: Facilitate sustainable livelihoods options for youth in tea workers communities of North Bengal and Assam. Assist the trained youth from the community to receive placement and enterprise development support by facilitating both forward and backward linkages. Help build robust tracking and database of the supported youth to understand the impact of the intervention

Role Aims:

To assist your reporting manager in overall programme delivery. Specifically, take responsibility for 1500 trained youth to receive placement or other enterprise development support. This would include:

• Understand the requirements from the placement agencies/companies/other stakeholders to assist the project partners and training service providers to align the courses & skills

• Build number of partnership and linkages with placement agencies, companies and other stakeholders

• Help facilitate the access of schemes and programs available for skill building and self-employment to the trained youth

• Develops and maintains a list of available positions in the surrounding/reasonably accessible/remote geographical area

• To counsel & support the trained youth in getting jobs/or and start their enterprise

• To develop a robust Tracking mechanism to understand the impact of the intervention

• To develop actionable monthly/Yearly plans and partake in team reviews and reflection processes

• To assist the Team in developing relevant reports/case studies/ communication materials etc. as and when required & collect feedback from the employer to assess the fitment of the youth in the role.

• To work in close coordination with the Program Manager

• To carry out other duties, which may or may not be related to the job, as reasonably requested by management.

Person Specification:

You will be:

A self-driven and dedicated professional with demonstrated ability of working with youth especially in providing placement linkages. You will be passionate about communicating the work to a range of stakeholders including placement agencies, private companies and other government and non-government organizations. You will be opened to learning more about issues affecting job market and willing to work constructively.

You will have:

• Hands-on experience in working on youth skill building and providing placement support.

• Ability to communicate and engage companies/placement agencies/other stakeholders to be able to support the placement of youth in the project

• Strong negotiating & organizing skills

• Good understanding on the programs and schemes of the government for skill development and or self-employment of youth

• Strong interpersonal, project coordination and administrative skills

• Effective communication skills including use of social media

• Excellent English language writing, reading and speaking skills. Working knowledge on Assamese/Bengali will be an added advantage

• Willingness to travel extensively.as required by the nature of project work

You may have:

• A graduate (or recognized equivalent) qualification in Sustainability, Sociology, Social Sciences, Social Work or other recognized discipline

• 3-5 years of experience working with civil society organizations/CSR or any government or NSDC centres

Other: Ability to work from home base will be an advantage for the applicant.
