Job Description

• Facilitate training and conduct supportive supervision visits to service delivery facilities and training sites, when state colleagues need ICO support or the sites are difficult/not performing as expected or where there is a need to mentor state staff.

• As guided by supervisor, work with the CST and program team to contribute actively in activities including leading and coordinating the process of development of technical updates, preparing materials like learning resource package; facilitating training and supportive supervision activities to ensure necessary technical inputs and take initiatives to achieve desired results. Ensure quality as per Jhpiego standards in all the activities

• Build capacity of state colleagues in training, supportive supervision and program implementation through guidance, coaching and mentoring and ensure implementation of Jhpiego standards and national policy.

• Remain updated on relevant technical subjects, Jhpiego standards and guidelines and national policies

• Facilitate project activities including workshop planning, materials availability, travel arrangements and other activities to ensure smooth implementation.

• Coordinate and collaborate with stakeholders, government officials (whenever needed), Jhpiego staff and consultants for effective implementation—as well as liaise with other partners working in reproductive healthcare in program states and more generally in India.

• Provide technical inputs and support into activities, while ensuring overall technical quality of Jhpiego processes and products.

• Work closely with the team on setting program priorities and responding to requests for technical support from State Health officials and/or local counterparts.

• Represent Jhpiego at meetings such as at state-level meetings involving government and international development partners.

• Perform or assume other duties as assigned by the India Country Director; Deputy Director & Head of Programs; Directors Clinical Services and Training and project concerned Associate Directors, National Program Managers to ensure the smooth functioning to achieve the organizational goals and keep them informed of successes, challenges and lessons learned.

• Travel within India in support of activity implementation and mentoring, as needed.

• Assist with analytical work, preparation of documents, reports and presentations for internal and external use, as needed

• Perform other duties related to Jhpiego’s technical assistance/programs, as and when assigned Abilities/Skills:

• Experience and demonstrated ability in working with government’s Reproductive Health and Child Health programs, counterparts, and systems.

• Ability to speak confidently and exercise diplomacy in dealing with governments, and national partners; demonstrate determination and tact in negotiations.

• Technical proficiency with current clinical skills required for the relevant clinical and programmatic areas.

• Proficiency in writing technical and programmatic documents such as training materials and reports.

• Abstract/ Lateral thinking.

• Strong oral and written communication skills along including drafting of vision documents and reports.

• Ability to work in a multicultural team setting. Displays cultural sensitivity and adaptability; communicates effectively with and relates to people of different cultures, demonstrating ability to see issues from other perspectives.

• Strong decision-making skills and results oriented approach.

• Ability to develop productive working relationships with other agencies, stakeholders and other organizations including government counterparts.

• Ability to work within a consortium and communicate regularly with a variety of team members in multiple locations.

• Ability to handle a variety of assignments under pressure of deadlines.

• Ability to multitask and work in a multi-cultural team.

• Willingness and flexibility to work on a wide range of tasks.

• Microsoft Office computer skills, proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

• Ability to travel extensively up to 50–60% of his/her time.


Qualifications/Knowledge:


• MBBS with Diploma in Gynecology and Obstetrics(DGO)/ Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Master of Science (OBG) is desirable

• Desirable Experience of 7 years and above with At least 2 years of managing staff. years of clinical experience in teaching/ education/ clinical setting.

• Sound clinical knowledge. Experience in health programs, particularly Family Planning/Reproductive Health focusing on essential Obstetric Care, IMNCI will be an added advantage.

• Familiarity with the Indian health system, key stakeholders and relevant government policies/strategies particularly National Health Mission and Nursing Midwifery Education Systems.
