Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities of MD at the Moreh OSCC :

• The MD plays a lead role in the medical aspects of OST program. He /she is expected to provide the best possible medical care for OST along the DWBI/NACO guideline

• The MD will deal with PWIDs and OST patients without discrimination, in line with Medical Ethics.

• Ensure professional confidentiality is respected at all times

• MD will perform the following duties following DWBI/NACO OST & HIV/HCV/STI GL:


o Assess patients for suitability of initiation into Opioid Substitution Therapy ( OST )

o Induce, Maintain and Terminate the OST along the NACO Guidelines.

o Prescribe suitable doses and individualize Buprenorphine dose appropriately on patients

o Assess complications and conduct regular follow ups

o Manage overdose crisis with Naloxone and document it as per the NACO GL

o Conduct the following procedures for mental health patients as follows :


1. Mental Status Examination ( MSE) in PWIDs to detect mental illness

2. Prescribe psycho-tropic treatment for mental illness as indicated

3. Discuss with MAM for referrals to psychiatrists and psychosocial intervention.

4. Provide screening , diagnosis, and treatment of HIV/TB/ HCV/HBV, STI /RH, NCD cases


• Provide medical treatment for common clinical conditions including wound and abscess care

o Carry out timely referrals of sick patients the appropriate facilities after discussion with

MAM

o Communicate clearly with clients and family members about the illness and the management process involved and ensure they have understood.

o Assist in compiling monthly medical reports

o Participate in regular team meetings and participate in advocacy as needed

o Work in good harmony alongside a multidisciplinary medical team of OSCC Program


REQUIREMENTS :


Education :


Essential:

MBBS degree with full & valid registration from Medical council of India or state medical councils, Desirable diploma in Tropical Medicine


Experience :

Essential Minimum 1 year of work experience


Desirable experience with HIV, (DR) TB and/or HCV.


Experienced in performing tissue aspirates techniques for diagnosis


Languages:


Mission language and at least 1 local language are essential


Knowledge : Essential computer literacy (word, excel)

We offer:


• Salary Gross 81,750/- per month (non-negotiable)

• Medical Market Allowance: 22,500 /- per month (non- negotiable)

• 18 days annual leave; 12 days paid leave as per specified list of holidays; Sick/Casual leave of 12 days as per calendar year (pro-rated based on hire date).

PURPOSE OF POST:


Provide outpatient and/or inpatient medical care to patients/beneficiaries according to adapted and updated medical knowledge, DWBI protocols, values and universal hygiene standards to improve the patients/beneficiaries health conditions.

Reports to (Functional): Project Medical Referent (PMR)
