Position Summary

We are looking for an exceptional storyteller and communication strategist to take the reins of select regional platforms, online fundraising, PR and Partnerships at Teach For India. This individual plays a critical role in Teach For India’s regional brand-building efforts, thereby impacting the overall visibility of our work and our collective impact. They will support the National Communications team by gathering and disseminating impactful stories to important stakeholders: prospective Teach For India Fellows, our Alumni community, Students and Donors. From attending local internal events, creating posting calendars, preparing detailed monthly analysis and curating newsletters, to building brand narratives through meaningful partnerships, content, advocacy and PR, in this role, you will get to project manage a 360-degree communication experience. You’ll get to work closely with our City Directors and Program Team, along with the National Development, Recruitment and Alumni teams. You’d enjoy this role if you have a detail-oriented approach to storytelling, are a creative individual who can hold multiple perspectives, a keen project manager with a deep understanding of the development sector and fundraising and an avid user of digital media.

Responsibilities

Manager Communications will report directly to Senior Manager, Digital Communications and will be responsible for maintaining the presence of Teach For India regional brands through inspiring social media content, newsletters and innovations and strategically building regional brand narratives for selected cities. 

Strengthen Regional Communications

  • Plan and execute the regional communication strategy to achieve goals to increase brand visibility on social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Medium, Newsletters) for 4 cities 
  • This responsibility will include, but will not be limited to - curating and writing stories of Fellows, Students, Alumni and Donors, planning monthly content calendars, and executing campaigns that increase brand awareness for goals listed below and reporting and documenting monthly digital media analytics
  • Curation and execution of Teach For India’s monthly regional newsletter and maintaining a readership of 2000+
  • Plan, execute and analyze periodic campaigns to increase social media brand equity 
  • Build relationships with influencers and celebrities to drive engagement and advocacy and traffic on our digital media
  • Cultivate connections with the regional board and other potential donors through brand-aligned communication 
  • Identify innovative formats to tell the stories of the key stakeholders
  • Extend learning support to other verticals and Innovation Cell
  • Attend City-specific events, both to cover the stories at them and to take key stakeholders (donors, media)
  • Build relationships with local media and pitch apt stories to ensure that our regional impact and narrative are captured in the press 
  • Identify, source, and support the execution of local partnerships for Fellows, Students, Alumni (speaking engagements, awards, content creator interactions etc)  

Plan and deliver high-quality events coverage 

  • Execute effective social media campaigns for Teach For India regional events
  • Support respective POCs with coverage of selected regional events 
  • Identify, create and engage donors in external and internal spaces 

Work closely with the Senior Manager and Director in these areas -

  •  Deliver insightful reporting to Leadership Team
  •  Develop online fundraising campaigns and end to end execution
  • Work with the Development and Communications team to develop strategies for email, search, display, paid social and other digital marketing channels to support online fundraising. Manage the cost-effective and timely execution of digital fundraising campaigns and optimization projects from beginning to end
  • Support the design and collateral needs of online fundraising campaigns and donor engagement amplification 
  • Develop Friends of Teach For India’s website and maintain a pipeline of fresh content and designs for timely updates 
  • Support Teach For India’s PR efforts by curating regional stories and regional teams in identifying powerful stories that would resonate with media

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualifications, Experiences and Expectations

  • Graduate/Postgraduate in any field
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience in communication and media roles

  • Ability to develop content consistent with the Teach For India brand voice, style, and tone
  • Strong in the people quadrant with highly developed interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Entrepreneurial attitude can work independently, with an ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational skills, story telling skills, project management and reporting and analytics skills with a focus on excellence and accuracy
  • Some experience in digital fundraising
  • General knowledge of social media listening tools is desirable
