Job Description

The Site Surveillance Officer will be responsible for all surveillance activities for the Sentinel Surveillance System for Adverse Events of Special Interest (SSS-AESI) for COVID19 vaccines at the sentinel site which will be a tertiary care hospital or a medical college in Delhi. S/he will be responsible for screening cases for eligibility for reporting, data collection, follow up, documentation, etc, at the site. S/he will work with a team of clinicians and medical records section at the sentinel sites, and will be guided by a national team.

Responsibilities

The Sentinel Surveillance Officer will be responsible for: 

  • Daily screening, selecting, and recruitment of patients from different departments
  • Sensitize and coordinate with doctors and other staff at the sentinel sites for selection of all eligible cases admitted in the site
  • Ensure timely data collection and uploading in the software while maintaining data integrity 
  • Ensuring timelines and deliverables of the project are met in his/her sentinel site, generate periodic reports, monitor progress of the project 
  • Day to day management of project in the site, update seniors regarding issues and suggest solutions.
  • Any other work assigned by ITSU or JSI 

Qualifications and Skills

JSI seeks a results-oriented individual with the ability to support the team in managing multiple concurrent tasks and meet tight deadlines with attention to detail. The successful candidate is required to have:

  • A BAMS/BHMS/BDS/Pharma graduate/Nursing degree/any other science graduate with or without Masters in Public Health with at least two years of experience in hospital sector • Experience in conducting hospital-based drug safety projects is desirable 
  • Understanding of data analysis methods and awareness of vaccines and vaccine safety issues will be an added advantage
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to network, build partnerships, work harmoniously in multi-cultural team environment
  • Fostering integration and team work 
  • Good computer skills, especially MS Office and familiarity with data collection software
  • Good command of English and regional language - both written and spoken.
