Duties and Responsibilities

• The Consultant Researcher (CR) will work closely with the Policy & Research team and would be supported by one focal person from the team working closely on research aspects and also to provide the required support.
• The secondary research part has already been done by the organisational research team. The Consultant Researcher (CR) will be supposed to fine tune same in alignment with the research questions.
• The CR will work closely with the Policy & Research team to develop the research design and methodology. And as per the need, develop interview schedules, discussion guidelines and framework etc to conduct the field studies
• Coordinate with the regional team and ground surveyors (with support from focal person) and support in their training and orientation for the purpose of the research project.
• Will be part of and steer the field level study team in conducting interviews and collecting case studies.
• Will do the research and analysis of the existing laws, policies and programs in favour of women informal workers and develop policy notes, articles on policy analysis, alternatives and propositions. 
• Draft research report and develop policy papers/propositions, articles, case studies basis research outcomes.

Head, Policy & Research Unit, ActionAid Association (India)

Travel

As per the work requirements.

Qualification, Skills and Competencies

• Post Graduate Degree in Social Sciences, Social Work, Sociology, Political Science, Development Studies, Public Policy or other related fields. 
• Knowledge and Experience in conducting qualitative and quantitative researches including methods of primary data collection, secondary survey, conducting FGDs, doing and preparing case studies, analysis of qualitative and quantitative data, etc.
• Preference would be given to those who have experience of doing researches on women’s issues
• Preference would be given to those having experience in doing Case Studies and ethnographic studies
• Knowledge of data collection tools like Survey CTO/Kobo Toolbox.
• Knowledge of data analysis using tools like R/Stata.
• Prior experience in writing and producing reports, research papers or policy briefs.
• Ability to work in a team and under pressure with strict deadlines

Consultancy Fee

Approx – INR 2 lakhs for complete assignment.

(This will be subject to tax deductions as per law of the land. And there will not be any additional organizational liability)

All expenses of travel, stay and food will be borne by the organisation during field travels as per its policies.
