Fedina has been working on a range of issues including Dalit rights, rights of tribal
communities, labour rights and violence against women. We firmly believe in
constitutional ideals with emphasis on secular and democratic values that underlie our
work. We have a work culture that has zero tolerance to violence against women and
follow policy of religious freedom, non-discrimination on the basis of social and gender
identity, sexual orientation or physical disability. Most of our work today surrounds
labour rights in a social movement approach.
One of the areas of work is understanding the challenges faced by informal workers in
their working lives, creating awareness of existing labour laws and assisting them to
bargain collectively for better working conditions and wages.
Vacancy Details
We are looking for staff who would be pro-active and committed to interacting with local
and migrant workers with a view to strengthening them.
Requirement:
? Knowledge of Kannada, Tamil, Hindi is essential with fluency in at least two of
them. Proficiency in English would be added advantage
? Graduates with relevant work experience would be preferred.
? Openness and team spirit is a must
Roles and responsibilities:
? Communicating and building relationship with the community
? Implementing the project activities in the area, like door-to-door visits, street
meetings etc.
? Mobilising workers for collective action, hand holding workers in the collectives
and mentoring the worker leaders
? Extend the team spirit, support and solidarity to other team members in different
areas.
? Regular Government office visits, liaisoning with government department as well
as the other stake holders.
? Reporting, maintaining documents and records.
