The Executive Nurse will be a senior member of the clinical outreach team responsible for supporting the Team Leader in ensuring overall quality of clinical services and clinical governance record maintenance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Procedures
• Ensure safety, privacy and dignity of clients.
• Ensure readiness of Operation Theatre– cleanliness, segregation of sterile and unsterile areas; organize of instruments and other supplies, appropriate positioning of OT table, availability of waste containers, OT attire etc.
• Participate in a minimum of 180 camps a year.
• Ensure availability and maintenance of all equipment (in working order), disinfectants and other materials required for providing outreach FDS services.
• Manage Infection Prevention in accordance with MSI protocols.
• Assist surgeons in conducting screening, pre-procedure assessment, per vaginal examination, administering pre-medication, manipulating uterus when required, providing post-operative vital monitoring, and providing pre & post-operative counselling and instruction to clients.
• Monitor IUD camps quality.
• Ensure post-operative 24 Hour Follow up is being conducted and monitored.
• Emergency management in case of complication, referral system in place and support in management of all incidents.
• Counselling of the clients – Pre and post-operative, if required.
• If required, conducting Haemoglobin, urine- sugar & albumin and urine pregnancy tests.
Capacity building and supportive supervision of junior COT team members
• Supervision of Office assistants for autoclaving of sterile supplies and infection prevention practices, drivers for all supports and Counsellors for effective counselling and documentation of records.
• Ensure stock room is well managed; all stock status in stock register, CCR and MSR well documented and coordinate with state stock in-charge to ensure that no stock and equipment is short or excess of requirement.
• Orientation and hand holding support to all new and on call COT staff.
Documentation
• Ensure that all clinical documents like client records, master register, camp consumption register, H1 registers, emergency management documents and other relevant registers are regularly updated and maintained.
• Ensure that regular clinical monthly meetings are held and the minutes are shared with SCSM/SPM on time.
• Ensure that all clinical documents like CRA, monthly service report, MSR, incident notifications, meeting minutes, training reports etc are sent to SCSM on time.
• Others
• Participate actively in the planning and management of MSI activities in the district
• Supporting in QTA and other training requirements.
• Participate in meetings/training including travel to other locations.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
• ANM/ GNM /B.sc Nursing
• 3 Years of work experience in Development Sector with 1-2 Years of experience in Family Planning Services.
SKILLS AND COMPETANCIES
• Computer skills i.e. MS office.
• Good understanding and willingness to learn of MSI clinical protocols.
• Caring and compassionate nature
• Excellent Teamwork and People skills
• Observation skills
