Job Description

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop district level social mobilization plan in consultation with key stakeholders.
  • Organize district level orientation of key stakeholders before the MDA rounds.
  • Coordinate with the health department to ensure the guideline reaches the Drug Administrators before the MDA days.
  • Coordinate and establish linkages with key stakeholders and officials in select platforms and departments at the district level such as District Program Manager (DPM) – SRLM, District Education Officer, district level PRI official, District Community Mobiliser (DCM), existing CSOs/FBOs (Faith Based Organizations), Social Mobilization Officer (SMO)/Neglected Tropical Disease (NTD) Officer – WHO, etc.
  • Coordinate and follow up for supply of IEC materials at the field level.
  • Coordinate with district level point persons for operationalizing the social mobilization plan.
  • Provide relevant presentation and reading materials for orientation at the block level.
  • Supportive supervision visits in field especially the high-risk blocks – to overview the preparation and implementation of social mobilization activities and provide feedback to the district level stakeholders and officials.
  • To support district in organizing ToT (Training of Trainers) to identified master trainers
  • Conduct a session on social mobilization at district level ToT
  • To support high risk blocks in conducting training of FLWs especially on social mobilization component.
  • Undertake monitoring during the MDA days and assess compliance post MDA rounds using representative cross sectional population survey.
  • Maintain daily Management Information System (MIS).
  • Assist in Post MDA round data collection, analysis and presentation.
  • Any other responsibility assigned by supervisor.

Qualification and skills required: The position of District Coordinator will require extensive field travel. Candidate with bike and valid driving license can only apply for the position.

  • Graduate in any stream with a minimum of 3 years’ field experience in Social Mobilization of any public health program.
  • At least 1 year experience in supervision, monitoring and people management.
  • Basic knowledge of Lymphatic Filariasis and experience of liaising with government officials.
  • Good computer, management and organizational skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication.
  • Willingness to travel to the field and ability to work against tight timelines.
  • Knowledge of local language (place of posting) will be an added advantage.
