Scope of Work :
• Provide technical assistance to State Nodal Officers of the Health and Education Departments and SCERT for roll out of SHWP in Arunachal Pradesh
• Liaison with State Government officials for smooth programme management in the two states and respond to the requests in a timely manner
• Coordinate and Facilitate timely planning and implementation of the programme activities in the states including capacity building of key stakeholders, planning for school-based activities, organisation of Inter-departmental coordination workshop/meetings, logistics planning and management etc.
• In collaboration with SPO-SHWP, communication team and government, design and develop communication approaches that support SHWP priorities; write and review technical components of materials, publications, and reports
• Work with SPO-SHWP and Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) team to strengthen MER under SHWP. Facilitate organisation of programme assessments, state level programme reviews and monitoring visits, Periodic reporting on SHWP related indicators and roll-out of SHWP MIS in Arunachal Pradesh
• Develop and produce documents like situation analysis reports, assessment reports, success stories, gap analysis plans, procurement plans etc. as per the programme need and local context
• Represent Jhpiego at national and state-level meetings involving government and development partners
• Frequent travel to the state and districts as per the project and organizational requirements
• Keep abreast of emerging research and best practices in adolescent and school health initiative and ensure that information is shared in an appropriate manner with governments
• Perform other activities, as assigned by the supervisor to achieve organizational goals
Abilities/Skills :
• Ability to develop productive working relationships with state/ district government counterparts, development and technical partners and other agencies
• Proficiency in writing technical and programmatic documents such as training materials and periodic reports
• Experience and demonstrated ability in working with Ministry/ government counterparts especially in the North East region/states
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Hindi; proficiency in local language will be an asset
• Excellent advocacy, coordination and analytical skills
• In-depth understanding of health issues in adolescents and school children
• Ability to handle a variety of assignments under pressure of deadlines
• Ability to multi task and work in a multi-cultural team
• Willingness and flexibility to work on a wide range of tasks
• Proficiency in computers - Microsoft Office
• Ability to travel for up to 50% of her/his time
Qualifications/Knowledge and Experience :
• Bachelors in Medicine, Dentistry, AYUSH with PG Diploma/ Masters in Public Health/ Public Health Management is a must
• Around 2-3 years of experience in Public Health sector with a sound understanding of India’s public health system and field experience of implementing large scale public health programs
• Previous work experience in School Health and Wellness Programme and Adolescent Health is desirable
• In-depth understanding of evolving Adolescent Health and School Health priorities and donor expectations for program results, outcomes, impact and reporting
