Chintan is seeking a Manager to run the programme, Climate change and resilience. The programme will involve mitigation pilot in a South Delhi slum with 1000 women, build capacity with identified grass roots leaders to participate in climate change conversations nationally, take learnings to similar constituencies and feed these into policy. The Manager will be responsible for managing climate change centric initiatives and provide knowledge leadership on climate justice, resilience and science at Chintan. This position will report to the Director.
The candidate will be expected to be well-informed about climate change, an excellent written communicator, be knowledgeable about the gendered impact of climate change and be able to lead teams based on empathy, professionalism and knowledge.
Essential to this role is at least 5-8 years of experience in the development sector, leading diverse teams and a familiarity with issues related to the urban poor.
Key responsibilities:
Project management
1.Manage projects in the realm of climate change.
2.Oversee the projects through execution, controlling, and closing phases.
Project execution
1.Monitor, trouble-shoot, and report projects’ progress.
2.Track and manage risks and issues.
3.Write donor or partner reports and plan and manage donor visits.
4.Supervise team and provide feedback for continuous development.
5.Oversee and maintain project documentation.
6.Ensure information symmetry on the issue so accurate, science based discussions are able to take place within the organization and its project sites.
Knowledge leadership
1.Along with others, represent Chintan in climate change relevant forums and platforms.
2.Contribute at least one blog or newsletter content piece on climate change theme every 6 week under their own name.
3.Liaise with communications and policy teams to provide subject matter perspective around climate change.
4.Demonstrate thought leadership and share knowledge proactively within the team on climate change themes. These could be via trainings, knowledge bytes on emails, meetings etc.
5.Use the information to identify appropriate policy inputs and do this collaboratively
6.Oversee network building with similar constituencies in the NCR region
