Xenon Livelihoods is a new-generation development organization driven by a single goal – to make livelihoods more secure, remunerative and rewarding for the underserved. We, at Xenon, like the element of the same name in the periodic table from true bonds with like-minded agencies to co create the path towards secure & remunerative livelihoods to realise opportunities for better lives for the underserved. 

We believe that owing to substantial efforts from the govt., private sector and civil society India has seen a massive mobilization of the rural and urban marginalized & underserved into community-based organizations around livelihoods. This has significantly created and will continue to drive higher demand for livelihood opportunities as well as “collective business” ecosystem services. The time is apt for initiating structural and innovative upward spiral changes in the livelihoods sector so that the marginalized families and their institutions can access new generation knowledge and technology, own and practice skills that will ensure dignified remunerative and sustained livelihoods to lead better lives.

Xenon Livelihoods aims at creating enabling conditions for a just society where the “underserved” are no longer called so. A society where they have developed the attitude and skills and gained access to the knowledge and have exercised their agency in taking advantage of the opportunities within the society collectively to lead better lives, not just for their generation but for later ones as well.

We partner with important stakeholders like State Rural Livelihood Missions, iNGOs, Foundations, Govt Departments, Non Govt Development agencies to assist them with expert facilitation & advisory services aimed at enhancing the community's agency in creating opportunities towards better lives by engaging with the market & other critical stakeholders

About the project

Xenon Livelihoods is implementing urban livelihoods project “Creating self-employment opportunities for urban poor households” in three major cities in India, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Delhi NCR urban agglomerations. This project intervention in Cloud-Kitchen based food vending domain, will aim to create long-term and sustainable livelihood opportunities for 1500 urban poor women through a bundle of enterprise development support services on skill, infrastructure, technology, marketing and organizational capacity building, etc. involving a capable implementing team and need based technical assistance from expert agencies and specialists plugged-in and leveraging relevant components of Government’s National & State Urban Livelihood Mission bodies looped-in, in institutional support.

Short term consultancy

We are looking for professionals who can play an instrumental role in the urban livelihoods project aimed at promoting entrepreneurship amongst women from urban underserved communities. The consultant should be based in the project location.

Period of engagement – initially 6 months (Dec’22 to May’23) but may be extended as per performance and project requirement.

Project location – Hyderabad, Bangalore, Delhi

No of position- 3 (one in each city)

Eligibility Criteria

Education:

-      Minimum bachelors degree in any discipline from recognised institute.

      Work experience

-      At least 5 years experience of enterprise promotion in urban areas

-      Substantial experience in working with women entrepreneurs in urban areas

-      Experience of working with SULM (State Urban Livelihoods Mission) in the relevant fields will be preferred.

Desired Candidate Profile

Post Graduation - MSW

Desired skills and knowledge

-      Community mobilisation skills for group enterprize promotion

-      Entrepreneurship and business management skills

-      Community training   

Desired qualities:

-      Should be ready to travel

-      Should be result-oriented

-      Should be able to work on projects independently and guide them to completion.

Remuneration

Remuneration would be based on the Xenon’s consultant policy and will be commensurate to the experience of the consultant. Xenon Livelihoods endeavours to match the best-in-class remuneration for its collaborators.
