Position Summary


The Finance Manager drives all aspects of financial and compliance management of Teach To Lead; will work collaboratively with other teams, implement internal policies and procedures as well as donor regulations. She/he would be responsible for all financial and compliance functions in the program including accounting, vendor payments, budgeting, financial reporting, banking, donor financial management; support the Development/Fundraising team and provide timely reports as well as assistance to the Senior Manager Finance/CFO and the Programs team to ensure that financial resources are used efficiently and effectively. 


Team Overview


The Finance team is considered as the backbone for TFI operations. The team supports all the other functions and is responsible for improving the overall financial efficiency of the organization. The team has set high standards of resourcefulness and is constantly striving to attain efficiencies and cultivating important relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

The Finance Manager shall supervise a team of 1 Finance Associate, 1 Finance Assistant and report to the Senior Manager/CFO and work closely with another Manager Finance for the Audit, Donor and MIS closures


Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:


Budgeting & MIS                                    

Collation and review of budgets for internal and external clients; assist staff and administrators in budget preparation, implementation and control; perform statistical analysis of cash flow and budgets; monitor and evaluate budgets and cash flow for appropriateness to ensure fiscal solvency and accountability.


Income Accounting and Donor Reporting

Ensure completeness and correctness of income, keeping in mind various statutory compliances (FCRA, Charity Commissioner’s office, Income Tax, etc.), accounting policies and procedures. reviewing Donor Reports, plan and meet timelines in reporting; review grant letters, funding and entitlement reports;


Financial and Statutory Reporting

Prepare financial reports as mandated by the management and other stakeholders, support in finalisation of annual accounts, liaise with auditors – both internal and statutory – and help address audit requirements and issues. Assist in compliance of direct and indirect taxation matters including filing of returns and handling of assessment proceedings as applicable.


Vendor payments

Overlook the function of vendor payments including managing a vendor database, review and due diligence of all vendor related payments ensuring that set policies, procedures and documentation is in place. Strong focus on timely and correct deduction of taxes from payments as per the provisions of the Income Tax Act, 1961.


Payroll 

Review the payroll and ensure that all the employee are getting the salary within the due time with ensuring the compliance and accuracy.


Compliances

Responsible for compliances with reference to The Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950, The FCRA 2010 and the Rules framed thereunder and updated from time to time, The Income Tax Act, 1961 and other Payroll compliances.


Training, Communications and Technical Support

Maintain communication with internal and external customers regarding financial matters; provide information and technical support to the Senior Manager in the development and revision of policies and regulations; assist in the development and documentation of office systems and procedures, finance software and systems, review proposed contracts for adherence to rules and regulations; train staff, coordinate, and/or review the work of staff.


?Setting Team Culture and Vision for Operational Excellence

Drive the vision for operational excellence and plan effectively to meet that vision. Setting priorities and managing, directing and leading the vision and core culture of the team. Establish systems for effective resource management


Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist Senior Manager/CFO with governance and legal matters
  • Establish and maintain high-level relationships with banking and auditing partners
  • Volunteering in classrooms
  • Assist in Fellowship Selection as required from time to time
  • Any such other related work as may be prescribed by Senior Manager.

Minimum Qualifications, Experiences and Expectations

  • CA/MBA Finance from a reputed institute with 2 years post qualification experience or B. Com with around 4+ years of relevant experience
  • Professional experience in areas of financial analysis, accounting, working in the Social Sector will be preferred.
  • Prior experience of working on NetSuite and Salesforce would be an added advantage.
