Job Description

CONTEXT & BACKGROUND:

This role is to enable fundraising for Tarachand Ramnath Seva Trust (The Trust) and all its partner organizations. This role aids trustees and is often trusted with complex duties and sensitive information. A significant role of the Public Relations Manager / Fundraising Manager develops and implements fundraising strategies and oversees fundraising programs. The person is expected to create Fundraising Goals and solicit funds to meet the goals. Public Relations Manager identifies new donors and organizes initiatives to solicit funding.  They will also be expected to streamline systems and processes, knowledge management, donor stewardship and fundraising administration related duties. 

Roles and Responsibilities

To achieve the objective, the scope of the role includes, but is not limited to,

  1. Key Tasks: 
  2. Conducting research on fundraising opportunities & identifying new leads for fundraising. 
  3. Serve as the primary development/ fundraising manager for long-term and high-potential donors – Corporate CSR, Foundations, and Individuals.
  4. Design and implement a systematic fundraising strategy to raise funds across key donor stakeholder groups including – Corporate donors, Foundations, HNI/UHNI donors, and partners.
  5. Exposure to Government Liaisons, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and Institutional Sales in the social/environment sector is an added advantage.

                                                                                                                                                                                         

  1. Donor Solicitation & Stewardship:
  2. Manage the fundraising life-cycle from identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship across relevant donor groups.
  3. Support with donor outreach and solicitation activities including setting up meetings, preparing an agenda for discussions, participating in meetings and responding to donor queries. 
  4. Following up with donors in the pipeline and ensuring movement across all open conversations.
  5. Writing funding proposals and submitting these to potential donors.
  6. Organizing and attending non-profit events and networking with relevant stakeholders.
  7. Take lead (content writing) in developing various fundraising collateral (pitch decks, FAQs, brochures, case for support, etc.)


  1. Administration:
  2. Preparing Bi-annual, Annual and quarterly budgets.
  3. Streamline and oversee the process of providing donors with payment confirmations, thank you receipts, and requisite tax exemption paperwork.
  4. Take responsibility to ensure all contracts with vendors such as payment gateway providers, website updation and maintenance, Social Media Marketing and fundraising platforms, Corporate/Institutional donors, etc. are up to date, renewed in a timely manner and the office is adhering to any commitments with regards to the same.

  2. The office is a lean team with a large mandate of activities. Staff members are expected to contribute to other areas of work including supporting volunteer relations, outreach/summer program initiatives, and key communication deliverables from time to time.

  3. Board of Trustees, Governing Council, Program Team , Financial Manager & Consulting Agency appointed by Trust.

  5. Corporate Donors, Volunteer Community, Network Organizations, HNI/UHNI Donors, Institutional Donors, Partner Organizations. 


Eligibility Criteria

  1. Academics: Bachelor's degree required with a preference for a Master's degree in Social work, rural development, economics, community development or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  2. Work Experience : 
  3. 7+ years of professional experience in the not-for-profit, education management or international development sectors, with at least 3 years in fundraising and/or business development.
  4. Corporate crossovers in allied fields (marketing, sales, business development) are also encouraged to apply
  5. Prior experience of working in strategic philanthropy including experience of working with HNI/UHNI and corporate donors is a plus.
