Job Description

Labour Axis & Working People’s Coalition (WPC) seek an experienced, committed colleague to join the team in Bengaluru to Strengthen Collective Action and Knowledge for the Informal Sector Workers Programme. Labour Axis has initiated this specialized programme to support Working Peoples’ Coalition (WPC) to strengthen collective knowledge and action for the informal sector. One of the major aims is to set up a formal structure for WPC that will help establish a platform to organize and voice their concerns


This programme is being incubated by Labour Axis with initial financial support from the Azim Premji Philanthropic Initiative and will be supported by a large response network of trade unions and civil society organisations working on labour issues across the country. The Accounts and Admin Officer will maintain books of accounts, adhere to policies, ensure statutory compliances, handle administrative tasks and support the WPC Secretariat, Coordinator and Convener such that the impact and visibility of the Working Peoples’ Coalition work can be enhanced further. Specifically, your role will entail the following:

• Book-keeping Related

• Manage the bank account and preparing Bank Reconciliation statement periodically as per practice.

• Preparing Budget Utilisation reports, Financial Narrative and variance report with narratives.

• Preparing vouchers and maintaining other files relating to financial management

• Filing quarterly tax returns

• Track the fund request against utilization of funds over a period; highlight issues pertaining to variance to accounts officer.

• Assisting the auditor with the Audit and Compliances

Desired Skills & Experience

• We are looking for an experienced and mature candidate who is deeply committed to ideas of social justice and labour rights.

• The ideal candidate will have a 12th pass out (HSC) certificate with certification in accounting/financial management.

• Hands-on experience with accounting software - Tally

• Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills

• Additional certification is a plus

• Proficiency in English along with Hindi speaking skills will be highly desirable, apart from fluency in Kannada and other south Indian languages.
