Job Description

South Kolkata Hamari Muskan henceforth SKHM is a non-profit, front-line organization working within two red light areas of Kolkata; Bowbazar, Sonagachi. SKHM predominantly works with children, youth, women and men from these areas providing them with education, nutritional support and also works on uplifting their stakeholders by providing other means of livelihood.

SKHM aims to eradicate second generation prostitution through main-stream education and vocational training through mainly two programs- PAMPERS & NURTURE. In addition to this, SKHM also supports women and men who are in either in prostitution or in allied or tertiary profession so that they can choose alternative livelihood for their well-being and dignity through provide different forms of trainings and mental health support within its Breakthrough and Dignity programmes. One of the main pillars of SKHM’s work is also the intervention of mental health in red-light areas. This support is accessible to infants as well as senior stakeholders. Play therapy, art therapy and counseling are some of the basic procedures a member goes through.

SKHM works with women and men of the community where they get the professional mental supports as well as they attend different sessions/ training on different issues of positive well-being. These sessions help every woman and man to regain their inner strength to look forward in a positive and alternative dignified way and also to prioritize their mental and physical well-being where every day they face gross human rights violation.

South Kolkata Hamari Muskan is looking for a consultant/ expert to conduct sessions on positive well-being in the red-light area. We are looking for candidates with 10+ years of experience working in social development sector with focus on training and conducting workshops related to mental and physical well-being. If any candidate has had experience of working in red light area will be high appreciated. The selected candidate should take monthly one session with the targeted population on the specific abovementioned topic for coming six months.
