Job Description:
The Air Quality Specialist will play a crucial role within CEED, working to develop strategies, conduct research, and implement initiatives aimed at improving air quality and mitigating the adverse effects of air pollution. The role will involve the following key responsibilities:
Air Quality Monitoring and Analysis: Design and implement air quality monitoring programs, including the selection of monitoring stations, data collection, and analysis. Utilize advanced tools and techniques to assess air quality, identify pollution sources, and analyze pollutant trends.
Policy and Advocacy: Contribute to the development and advocacy of air quality policies and regulations at the national, regional, and local levels. Engage with government agencies, policymakers, and relevant stakeholders to influence policy frameworks, promote effective enforcement, and raise awareness about the importance of clean air.
Research and Innovation: Conduct research on air pollution sources, emission inventories, and the impacts of air pollution on human health and the environment. Stay updated with the latest scientific advancements and technological innovations in air quality monitoring and pollution control. Identify and promote sustainable and innovative solutions to improve air quality.
Capacity Building: Provide technical support and capacity-building activities to relevant stakeholders, including government agencies, civil society organizations, and communities. Conduct training programs, workshops, and awareness campaigns to enhance understanding of air quality issues and promote pollution control measures.
Collaboration and Networking: Establish partnerships and collaborations with national and international organizations, research institutions, and experts in the field of air quality management. Participate in relevant forums, conferences, and working groups to exchange knowledge, share best practices, and contribute to collective efforts in improving air quality.
Project Management: Manage and coordinate air quality-related projects, including project planning, budgeting, implementation, and monitoring. Ensure adherence to project timelines and deliverables, and coordinate with project team members and external stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
Qualifications:
A master's degree or higher in environmental science, atmospheric science, public health, or a related field. Specialization in air quality management or air pollution control is preferred.
At least five years of professional experience in the field of air quality management, air pollution control, or environmental consulting. Experience in designing and implementing air quality monitoring programs is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of air pollution sources, air quality monitoring techniques, and relevant regulatory frameworks in India. Familiarity with national and international air quality standards, guidelines, and protocols.
Proficiency in air quality modeling tools and software, such as AERMOD, CALPUFF, or similar tools. Experience in data analysis and interpretation using statistical software packages.
Demonstrated ability to conduct scientific research, publish findings in peer-reviewed journals, and present at conferences or workshops. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders. Proficiency in written and spoken English is required. Knowledge of local languages is advantageous.
Project management skills, including experience in project planning, implementation, and coordination. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
