Job Description

Individual Counseling:


Conduct one-on-one counseling sessions with program participants to assess their career aspirations, interests, and challenges.

Help individuals identify their strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement related to skill development and career advancement.

Provide guidance and support in developing personalized action plans and setting achievable goals.

Career Development:


Assist participants in exploring various career options based on their interests, skills, and market demands.

Provide information and resources about educational programs, vocational training, and employment opportunities.

Offer guidance on resume writing, job search strategies, interview preparation, and professional networking.

Personal Development:


Support participants in overcoming personal barriers and challenges that may hinder their skill development journey.

Facilitate workshops or group sessions on topics such as communication skills, time management, stress management, and self-confidence.

Help individuals develop a growth mindset, resilience, and problem-solving skills to navigate career-related obstacles.

Referral and Collaboration:


Identify and refer participants to additional support services, such as mental health counseling, financial assistance, or community resources.

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including vocational trainers, social workers, and career advisors, to provide holistic support to participants.

Maintain effective communication and collaboration with other program staff to ensure a coordinated approach to participant support.

Progress Monitoring and Evaluation:


Track the progress of participants through regular assessments and feedback sessions.

Document participant information, counseling sessions, and progress notes in a confidential and organized manner.

Collaborate with the program evaluation team to collect and analyze data on the effectiveness and impact of counseling services.

Record Keeping and Reporting:


Maintain accurate and up-to-date participant records, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations and organizational policies.

Prepare reports on counseling activities, participant outcomes, and success stories as required by program management and funders.

Qualifications:


Bachelor's or Master's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field.

Proven experience as a counselor, career advisor, or similar role, preferably in the field of skill development or non-profit organizations.

Knowledge of career counseling techniques, assessment tools, and vocational resources.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills to establish rapport and build trust with diverse individuals.

Empathy, active listening skills, and the ability to provide non-judgmental support to participants.

Familiarity with counseling ethics and best practices, including confidentiality and boundaries.

Experience in working with individuals facing socio-economic challenges or barriers to employment is advantageous.

Proficiency in record keeping and data management systems.

Adaptable and flexible, with the ability to work effectively in a dynamic and multi-cultural environment.
