Job Description: Female Counsellor for Trauma Recovery of Women

Position Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Female Counsellor for Trauma Recovery of

Women to provide psychological support and counselling services to women from various

gender-based violence backgrounds in vulnerable communities, including brothel areas,

shelters, and institutions across Mumbai and Thane. The counsellor will play a critical role in

helping survivors of trauma navigate their healing journey and rebuild their lives.

Responsibilities:

? Provide individual and group counselling sessions to women victims/survivors of

gender-based violence, including domestic violence, sexual assault, trafficking, and

exploitation.

? Conduct comprehensive trauma assessments to understand the psychological,

emotional, and social needs of survivors.

? Develop and implement personalized treatment plans based on clients' specific

needs, goals, and trauma history.

? Conduct psychoeducational workshops and support groups to empower survivors

and enhance their coping skills.

? Maintain accurate and confidential client records, documenting progress, treatment

plans, and interventions in accordance with professional standards and

organizational policies.

? Stay updated with the latest research, best practices, and trauma-informed care

approaches to enhance counselling techniques and knowledge.


? Participate in supervision, team meetings, and training sessions to enhance

professional development and ensure quality service provision.

Qualifications and Skills:

? A minimum of a Bachelor’s /Master's degree in Counselling, Clinical Psychology,

Social Work, or a related field.

? Certification or specialization in trauma-focused therapy or counselling is highly

desirable.

? Proven experience in providing counselling or therapy to survivors of trauma,

particularly women who have experienced gender-based violence.

? Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles and evidence-based therapeutic

modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), etc.

? Familiarity with the socio-cultural dynamics and challenges faced by vulnerable

communities, including brothel areas and shelters. Willingness to travel in the field

and the respective areas

? Excellent communication and active listening skills, with the ability to empathize and

establish rapport with survivors.

? Strong organizational and time management skills to handle a caseload of clients and

meet documentation requirements.

? Ability to maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, practice self-care, and

seek supervision when needed.

? Fluency in English and local languages commonly spoken in Mumbai and Thane.
