1. Bookkeeping: Record day-to-day financial transactions, including income, expenses, and other financial activities in the accounting system.
2. Financial Reporting: Prepare timely and accurate financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
3. Budgeting Support: Assist in the development and monitoring of budgets for projects and programs, ensuring alignment with donor requirements and organizational goals.
4. Grant Management: Maintain financial records for grants and projects, track expenses, and prepare financial reports for donors.
5. Accounts Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable, and accounts receivable to ensure accuracy and identify any discrepancies.
6. Compliance: Ensure compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, and donor guidelines.
7. Payroll Processing: Process payroll, calculate taxes and deductions, and maintain payroll records.
8. Financial Analysis: Provide financial analysis and insights to support decision-making and budget planning.
9. Audit Preparation: Assist in the preparation of documents and information for internal and external audits.
10. Financial Systems Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement and contribute to the enhancement of financial systems and procedures.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
2. Accounting Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance roles. Experience in the nonprofit sector or with NGOs is beneficial but not always required.
3. Knowledge of Accounting Principles: Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.
4. Financial Software Proficiency: Experience working with accounting software and financial management systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential.
5. Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recording financial transactions and preparing reports.
6. Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide meaningful insights.
7. Integrity and Confidentiality: Demonstrated ethical conduct and the ability to handle sensitive financial information with confidentiality.
