Job Description

Essential requirements:

Relevant degree or diploma.

At least 2 to 3 years’ experience in implementing projects, ideally in the area of HIV, sexual health, transgender/hijra and/or other marginalised populations at the district / State levels.

Preferably a candidate from the community with strong human rights background and sound knowledge of prevention programming, also has experience working with trans-led CBOs

Proven understanding of the diversities of the TG/Hijra population, especially within the programme-implementing regions.

Strong understanding and commitment to Transgender health and rights.

In-depth knowledge of sexual health and related issues.

Experience of working with multiple stakeholders in civil society, the private sector, and the government at different levels.

Experience of working with multiple stakeholders in civil society, the private sector, and the government at different levels.

Strong commitment to team-working, collaboration, consensus building and negotiation.

Highly motivated self-starter with vision, ability to identify opportunities and drive change.

A credible mediator and communicator

Ability to communicate effectively with government officials and decision-makers, the transgender/hijra community, their families, and allies.

Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.

Fluent in English and Hindi and/or in the regional language where the programme is being implemented.


Desirable qualities/experience/skills:

Good understanding of development issues and the HIV epidemic(s) in India.

Technical knowledge and expertise in Prevention, Care and Support.

A good understanding of legal and ethical issues around HIV/AIDS/ KPs.

Involved in developing advocacy strategy at the district/state level.


Salary: Rs 20000.00

The position requires a solid commitment to HIV/AIDS and sexual and reproductive health and NGO activities in India, and a strong interest in and understanding the relevant issues.
