Job Description - Finance Coordinator (Full Time)


Position Description:


Reporting to the Director and Associate Director of SAKHI for Girls Education, the Finance Coordinator leads all day-to-day accounting operations, with functional responsibility for accounting, accounts payable, payroll, and grants administration. Responsibilities also include the preparation of financial reports, proper maintenance of accounting records, accurate processing of financial transactions; and administration of a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the organization’s reported financial results, adhere to grants management standards, and result in flawless audits. The Finance Coordinator closely supervises the program implementation team in the areas of finance operations, allied documents, and other related functions.


Major Areas of Responsibilities:


PART – A


•Assist the Director / Associate Director in maintaining and following the accounting & finance policies of SAKHI for Girls Education

•Prepare accurate & timely reports

•Make entries in the books of accounts with utmost diligence

•Ensure timely compliance of regulatory requirements

•Complete book keeping, cash register, bank books, bank reconciliation statements on real time basis

•Administrative functions include maintenance of staff records, leave records, bank details, appointment letters etc. related to human resources

•Statutory payments such as TDS, PT and other as per mandatory due dates.

•Book keeping of the expenses incurred at the SAKHI’s field project areas at the Mulund (w), Mumbai and monitor the admin processed and expenses as per the sanctioned budget.

•Assist in the process of audits for Income Tax and related matters.


•Produce accurate, high quality financial reports as per requirement of SAKHI for Girls Education and donors.


PART – B


•Develop Financial guidelines and policies for SAKHI for Girls Education and ensure compliance

•Manage the finance and office administration department functions effectively and smoothly with the highest standards of service

•Ensure appropriate financial and accounting systems are implemented effectively

•Prepare and monitor the organization's finance budgets


•Prepare budgets for the new proposals/ grant appeals

•Manage and oversee petty cash & related transactions

•Review of accounts, ledger scrutiny, keep updated books of accounts and provide guidance to team of accountants for the same.


•Ensure timely compliance of regulatory requirements for TDS, PT, change reports, charity commissioner's requirements, etc.

•Oversee Accounts and administrative functions of SAKHI for Girls Education and its outreach office

•Provide support to Director / Associate Director in accurate financial reporting and compliance with standard requirements

•Ensure that financial audits are carried out as per need in a timely fashion


•Produce accurate, high quality financial reports as per requirement of SAKHI for Girls Education and donors.


Required Abilities and Skills:


•Excellent knowledge of accounting methods, statutory compliance, and laws applicable to the development sector

•Proficiency in computer applications- word, excel, PowerPoint, tally

•Work with team spirit and contribute to team building

•Ability to work in, lead, and supervise a team with sundry diverse skills and abilities

•Good learning attitude and participatory in approach


Personal Specifications:


Educational Qualifications and Work Experience

•Graduate in Commerce

•3-5 years experience in accounting & administrative work

•Candidates with additional understanding of the NGO sector will be preferable
