Introduction: 

HAQ: Centre For Child Rights was founded in 1998 (formally registered in June 1999) human rights organisation that focuses on all rights for all children, recognising them as citizens of today and adults of tomorrow. HAQ seeks to recognise, protect and promote all rights for all children, especially those who are disadvantaged. It believes that there is a need for the realisation of human rights of children through policy, law and action. 

HAQ has emerged from the long involvement of its founding members on issues concerning children and a diverse range of human rights. For over two decades, it was led by the founder co-directors Enakshi Ganguly and Bharti Ali. In August 2018, Enakshi transitioned out making way for the new leadership team led by Bharti Ali as Executive Director, who has recently resigned. 

HAQ is renowned for its extensive research and policy work that has led to legal and institutional changes within the Indian justice system.

Responsibilities:


Overall Responsibility and Accountability

• Overall leadership and management of HAQ’s operational and administrative functions.

• Design and implement HAQ’s core programs and project interventions.

• Plan for and mobilize financial resources, to ensure long-term sustainability.

• Maintain relationship and communication with a diverse range of stakeholders and collaborators to promote HAQ’s mission and activities, while acting in the best interests of the organisation in all contexts.


Operational management

• Ensure that HAQ’s organisational structure, operational policies and other processes are in place and able to deliver effectively on the strategic objectives defined by the organisation.

• Work closely with HAQ’s senior management team, heads of the programs, administration, finance and HR.

• Overall review, monitoring and evaluation of operational and financial matters.


Financial Management

• Work closely with the Administration and Finance head to ensure the overall transparent and effective financial and administrative functionality of the organisation and its assets.

• Work closely with finance to ensure that timely internal and external audits are done; and ensure all financial compliances.


Programs and Projects

• Guide, implement and monitor the ongoing programs and projects of HAQ.

• Ensure that systems are in place for monitoring and evaluation of HAQ’s programs and performance and provide accurate analysis and routine reporting on the impact and performance of the programs/ projects supported by different donors.

Partner Engagement and Delivery 

• Establish, develop, contribute and build effective partnerships with appropriate agencies/ bodies, both, governmental and non-governmental in furtherance of HAQ’s vision, mission and goals.

• Oversee and advance the development of new funding streams for the organisation, broadening the donor base.


Official Representation

• Be the face of the organisation in all matters relating to operational management, contracts and statutory compliances.

Eligibility Criteria

Must Haves:

• Post graduate degree in social work, development studies, management, law, communication and other social sciences.

• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in the social and philanthropic space, CSR and corporate sector.

• The incumbent should possess relevant knowledge and experience on child rights, social and development issues will be an advantage.

• The incumbent must bring in strong research, writing, communication, resource mobilisation and networking skills. 

• The incumbent must have relevance experience of managing teams effectively.

• The incumbent is expected to have contacts and relationship with organisations across the development sector/ human rights / social sector. 


Preferable:

• Preferred language proficiency in Hindi and English. Knowledge of other regional languages would be an advantage.
