Job Description

1.)Profile:

•University degree or comparable degree in the field of community development, environmental / agricultural or social sciences.

•More than 10 years of experience of grassroot level field work with the focus on community development and child rights.

•More than 5 years of experience in youth mobilization, facilitation and empowerment and knowledge of sustainable development goals, climate rights & justice and environmental rights & protection.

•Proficiency in local language and basic level communication skills in English language. Understanding of Hindi language would be an added advantage.

•Good knowledge of the socio-economic political &environmental situation of the country.

•Willing to take up frequent travel to other districts for organizing youth meetings and travel to other States to facilitate youth members to participate in National level meetings.

2.) Responsibilities:

•Form and strengthen (provide orientations on environment) youth groups with a membership of 25 members in each of the 35 villages in the State and facilitate the monthly meetings of the groups.

•Enable the youth group members to be part of the State and National level Youth Networks and participate in the annual trainings organized by the Networks.

•Organize exposure visits to institutions and networks in the region implementing good practices in environment protection in the region.

•Facilitate the youth representatives to participate in the workshop on Climate Literacy and Climate Learning Toolbox and ensure participation in follow up annual workshops.

•The State Coordinator is responsible for conducting the monthly tutorials sessions from the Climate Learning Toolbox and provide the necessary technical support for accessing the lessons in the toolbox.

•Establish the Climate Libraries in the State with the support of the implementing partner organization.

•Give inputs and guidance for the youth groups on environment based enterprises and provide motivation for the members to initiate start ups.

•Ensure required support for the implementing organization for selecting the teams to be supported and procuring of raw materials and setting up of youth led business enterprises.

•Guidance for the youth members for selection of themes for social action and handholding support for implementing the youth led social action.

•Support the youth members in planning and conducting month long campaigns on selected environment themes.

•Facilitate the youth members to identify issues in the region in line with the themes selected in the National Youth Network Meetings and make District level representations.

•Initiate dialogues with the Government Officials and Political Parties in the State and create a platform for youth members to present their concerns on implementation gaps in environment policies and seeking redressal.

•Provide mentoring support for the social media campaign by the youth members constantly reviewing and editing the social media write ups and YouTube videos to be uploaded and constant networking with the print and broadcast media houses.

The budgeted salary for the position of state coordinator is Rs.30000/- inclusive of EPF. Travel and communication expenses/allowances will be payable in addition to the salary.
