Job Description

SAHELI is an NGO working in the Balasore and Mayutbhanj districts of Odisha to defend the rights of children and women. SAHELI is inviting applications from suitable hands to fill three vacancies in a new project to prevent child marriages and gender-based violence based at Baripada in the Mayurbhanj district of Odisha.

Project Coordinator - 1

The key functionary of the new project. Overall coordination of the project activities; donor reporting; financial management; liaising with the government and other relevant stakeholders; guiding the project team; and documentation constitute the major tasks.

The ideal candidate would be a postgraduate in Social Science with a minimum of five years of experience in community work with at least one year of experience in the work to prevent child marriage and gender-based violence. Should be proficient in MS Office package. Knowledge or exposure to the Tally package would be desirable. Must be able to read, write and speak in Odia, English, and Hindi. The position is located in Baripada and hence, willingness to undertake travels to remote areas of Baripada CD Block from Baripada town is essential. Persons with own vehicles and holding valid driving licenses will be given preference.

Field Officers - 3

Field Officers will be placed in Gram Panchayaths in Baripada CD Block and they are expected to work as a team with the Project Coordinator operating from Baripada town. The minimum educational qualification will be graduation in any stream. One year of experience in working with the community is essential. Local hands are preferred. Ability to read, write, and speak in Odia and English is required. The job involves extensive travel to remote villages in the assigned blocks. Persons willing to undertake extensive travel only are required to apply. Persons with own two-wheel vehicles and hold valid driving licenses are preferred.
