Job Description

Job Title: Finance Assistant (Non-Profit Organization)


Job Purpose:

The Finance Assistant is responsible for efficiently managing financial tasks and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations in a non-profit organization. They will be responsible for managing filing quarterly returns for the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA), maintaining monthly bills, vouchers, and statements, and providing support in financial record-keeping.


Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Manage the filing of quarterly returns for the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) as per applicable regulations.

2. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of monthly bills, vouchers, and statements.

3. Assist in financial record-keeping, including reconciling accounts, preparing financial reports, and maintaining financial documentation.

4. Collaborate with the Finance Manager to ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and regulations.

5. Assist in budgeting and financial planning activities.

6. Help in managing payroll processes, including salary disbursement and record-keeping.

7. Support the Finance Manager and team in preparing financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.

8. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to financial processes and systems.


Qualifications and Skills:

1. Previous experience in finance, preferably in a non-profit organization.

2. Bachelor's degree in Commerce (B.Com), MBA in Finance, or any other relevant qualification.

3. Strong understanding of financial principles, regulations, and best practices.

4. Proficiency in using financial software and tools.

5. Excellent knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel and accounting software.

6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

7. Attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.

8. Good communication and interpersonal skills.

9. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

10. An understanding of the non-profit sector and its financial requirements is preferred.

11. Knowledge of the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) is an added advantage.
