We are inviting applications for the post of Project Manager to lead the work on plastics, specifically working with the street vendors in India. Parisar is an equal opportunity employer, and we encourage all eligible candidates to apply. The Job Description (JD) of the positions is as follows.
Research
To conduct primary research as per project work plans
To research, analyse, synthesise and produce briefs on policies, trends and matters of current interest pertaining to plastic and street vending
To help collect, analyse and interpret data on Reuse systems in street vending
To contribute to and publish reports, blogs, articles and policy analysis / briefs regularly
To support the outreach work through research and data analysis
Project Management
Prepare work-plan at start of the project year and coordinate the implementation of the work-plan after it’s approval
Identify potential risks and plan for mitigating them
Highlight potential delays and/or need for additional resources to meet project objectives
Networking
To build capacity of identified street vendor representatives and disseminate information through organising workshops, seminars etc
To help in developing and maintaining good relationships with street vendor unions, civil society organisations, and other relevant groups
To participate and contribute to alliance building process at local and national level
To volunteer to causes other than plastic pollution and build linkages
Expected qualities
Aptitude for research and project management, and fast learner
Ability to work with communities who have been affected by SUP bans
Ability to work in a team and become a team player
Open to extensive travel across India
Commitment towards social change and environmental protection
Comfortable with ambiguity
Sensitivity towards gender, caste, regional and cultural concerns
Self aware, driven and creative
Good oral and written communication in English and Hindi, and one other Indian language
Minimum 5 years work experience, of this at least two years in a project management role
The compensation for the positions would be around Rs. 7.2 Lakh per annum. Final offer will depend on education and experience. The position will initially be for a period of one year, and extension will depend on mutual agreement and continuation of the project. This position is based in Kolkata.
