Job Announcement Job Title: Block Coordinator 14st March, 2024


Purpose of Job:

Work in a project on “Improving Social Protection and Access to Services through Participation and Resilience Building in Ganjam district of Odisha” at the Gram Panchayats and Block level through directly working with officials, service providers PRI members, and capacity building and engaging with children, adolescent and communities their mobilization, training of elected officials, frontline workers on child rights, basic public services (education, health, WASH, protection etc.), children’s participation in planning and budgeting (GPDP) and gram sabha, Disaster Risk Reduction and resilience building and inclusion of vulnerable families in social protection, supported by Unicef-India.


Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Working as ‘Block Coordinator’ at the gram panchayat and block level with officials, service providers and administration on social protection, basic services(WASH), child protection of vulnerable children and families.

• Capacity building of children and adolescents and their families on child led planning and budgeting (GPDP), child protection, resilience building and disaster risk reduction (Child Friendly Gram Panchayat)

• Training of frontline workers, PRI members and citizen led statutory committees on child led planning, budgeting (GPDP), child protection, basic service delivery (WASH), resilience building and disaster risk reduction (Child Friendly Gram Panchayat)

• Working closely with the elected and government officials, service providers and statutory committees to better planning, implementation, operation and maintenance of WASH assets by coordinating with different institutions at various levels.

• Conduct the project activities with the tools, methods and approaches designed by YSD and Unicef-India.

• Contributing to the project activities as and when required

Essential Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:

• A graduate or post-graduate degree in Social Work/Sociology/MBA-Rural Management/Development Studies/Public Policy and Governance

• Knowledge on working with the government officials, PRIs, children, adolescent and community, rural local governance, social security, Panchayatiraj, GPDP and child led planning

• Minimum 5-7 years experience in field of child rights, working with multiple government stakeholders and capacity to produce desired time bound results


Skills/Abilities:


• Strong interpersonal skills and cultural awareness

• Skill on working with government officials, coordination and convergence

• Skill on working with children and adolescents and community, local governance and participation

• Good presentation and networking skills

• Ability and willingness to work with children and adolescent in rural areas

• Ability to produce time bound desired results as per project plan


Desirable:


• Previous experience in working with children and local government, understand social protection schemes and basic public services, mobilization of officials and community

• Experience in producing outputs in a short period of time and for children and their families

• Fluency in a language other than English (Oriya and Hindi)

• Experience of editing and writing reports, case studies and analyse data and information


Performance Evaluation:


Periodic performance evaluation will be conducted to ensure the alignment of job descriptions and quality of delivery. Job Descriptions will be used as the criteria for measuring and evaluating the performance. Specific indicators, targets, and outcomes for the position will be fixed and use them consistently and objectively.


Remuneration:


The remuneration will remain between 24000-29000 INR per month consolidated with the applicants’ ability and experience.
