Job Description

As a Life Skills Trainer at Sneh Asha Foundation, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and impactful life skills education to students in 6th to 10th grades at BMC Schools in Mumbai. Through interactive workshops and activities, you will empower students to develop essential life skills such as communication, critical thinking, decision-making, empathy, and resilience. This role requires creativity, empathy, and a passion for empowering young people to navigate life's challenges and succeed in school and beyond.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Curriculum Development:

a. Develop a comprehensive life skills curriculum tailored to the needs and interests of students in 6th to 10th grades.

b. Design interactive lesson plans and learning activities that promote the development of key life skills and align with curriculum standards and objectives.

c. Incorporate participatory and experiential learning approaches to engage students and enhance learning outcomes.


2. Classroom Instruction:

a. Deliver engaging and interactive life skills sessions to students in BMC Schools, using a variety of teaching methods and resources.

b. Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel comfortable expressing themselves and exploring new ideas.

c. Adapt teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles, abilities, and cultural backgrounds of students.


3. Individual and Group Counseling:

a. Provide individual and group counseling sessions to support students in developing social-emotional skills, coping mechanisms, and positive behavior patterns.

b. Facilitate discussions on topics such as self-awareness, emotional intelligence, conflict resolution, and goal setting to help students navigate personal and interpersonal challenges.


4. Monitoring and Evaluation:

a. Assess student learning and progress through observation, informal assessments, and student feedback.

b. Collect and analyze data to evaluate the effectiveness of life skills interventions and identify areas for improvement.

c. Prepare regular reports on student participation, engagement, and outcomes for internal and external stakeholders.


5. Collaboration and Partnerships:

a. Collaborate with teachers, school administrators, and other stakeholders to integrate life skills education into the school curriculum and extracurricular activities.

b. Forge partnerships with community organizations, NGOs, and other resources to enhance the range and quality of life skills programming available to students.

c. Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development activities to enhance your own skills and knowledge in life skills education.


Qualifications:

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in education, psychology, social work, or a related field.

- Previous experience in teaching, counseling, or youth development, preferably in a school or community setting.

- Strong understanding of child and adolescent development, as well as principles of social-emotional learning and life skills education.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students from diverse backgrounds.

- Creativity, adaptability, and a passion for working with young people to support their holistic development.

- Proficiency in Hindi or Marathi preferred.

- Commitment to the mission and values of the NGO, with a dedication to promoting educational equity and social justice.
