Job Description

Job Description: The waste management Field Facilitator is responsible for developing and implementing GFI’s waste management programs (aimed at creating zero waste communities and strategies at the city level, ensuring compliance with local and national regulations, and promoting sustainability and environmental awareness


We are inviting applications from individuals who would like to join a team of climate action advocates to manage implementing our Bank It, Don’t Bin It project. The team will support you on a need basis.


Working closely with Program Lead, Director of Mumbai


Directly Managing: Buildings and Organisational partnerships


Salary Range: 3L to 3.6L per annum (based on experience)


Roles and Responsibilities: As a Field Coordinator, you will fulfill the following roles and responsibilities:

Implement waste management programs and strategies for the city, including recycling and composting programs, and waste reduction. Hold open houses with interested individuals, Resident Welfare Associations (RWA), and institutions to debrief about the program and generate general awareness to maximize participation.

Build and sustain partnerships with local recyclers and last-mile disposal organizations.

Build and sustain partnerships with buildings/housing societies, offices, clubs, and other institutions to start the BIDBI and GIDTI programs.

Set up recycling banks or collection systems at buildings/housing societies, offices, clubs, and other institutions and plan a collection plan.

Coordinate with city departments (if required), waste management contractors/ recyclers, and community organizations to ensure effective waste management practices are in place.

Conduct Baseline survey and End-line survey to track the progress of the program.

Maintain waste management data systems, including tracking waste generation, disposal, and recycling rates.

Respond to citizen complaints and concerns regarding waste management practices and provide customer service and support to residents and businesses.

Ensure compliance with local and national regulations related to waste management.

Share field challenges and opportunities with the team to continuously improve the program operations while maintaining or reducing the cost per kilogram of waste diverted from landfill.


Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in environmental science, social work, or a related field.

1 to 2 years of experience in waste management, environmental science, or a related field is preferred. Freshers interested in the field may be considered based on skills.

Knowledge of local and national regulations related to waste management, recycling, and hazardous waste is desired.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.

Proficiency in Google docs and sheets or Microsoft Office

Proficiency in English language and Marathi

Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, with strong time management skills.
