Role Overview:


The Social Business or Enterprise Development and Marketing Lead is a strategic leadership role responsible for designing, developing, and implementing sustainable social enterprise that aligns with Kshamata’s mission. The role involves linking work preparedness and vocational skills training with market needs, ensuring that women beneficiaries can transition into viable livelihoods. The Lead will also oversee marketing strategies to promote Kshamata’s social enterprise, build partnerships, and raise awareness to garner support and resources.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

  1. Enterprise Development
  • Develop and grow income-generating social enterprise that empower women, ensuring sustainability and scalability.
  • Conduct market research to identify opportunities in relevant sectors.
  • Create business plan/financial model
  • Provide ongoing guidance on enterprise operations, productivity, and profitability.
  • Compliance - Inc. set up or outsource through already established company. Operationalize the system as per new compliance, invoicing, etc.
  • Strenthen and institutionalize Record Keeping System and data sharing within the Hub and Spoke mofel of operations of the social enterprise
  1. Product Diversification
  • Develop current and new portfolio of products/services aligned with market demand and the skills of women beneficiaries.
  • Ensure quality standards and social impact objectives are maintained.
  • Ensure pricing and catalogue of products are in place and reviewed from time to time
  • Sustainability Focus: Highlight the sustainability of your products, whether through the use of eco-friendly materials, fair labor practices, or waste reduction initiatives. This can be a strong selling point for socially conscious consumers.
  1. Marketing & Promotion
  • Design and implement comprehensive marketing strategies to promote social enterprise products/services locally and nationally.
  • Develop branding, packaging, and promotional materials that highlight the social impact and value proposition.
  • Lead digital marketing campaigns, social media presence, and outreach activities.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Implement a CRM system to manage customer interactions and track sales data. Use this data to personalize marketing efforts and improve customer retention.
  1. Capacity Building & Training (under the micro-business initiative)
  • Train women mini-entrepreneurs on enterprise management, marketing, sales, and customer service.
  • Create work preparedness opportunities for the women through the platform of the Social Enterprise
  • Ensure capacity building of the team members involved directly with the enterprise and related training activities
  1. Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Establish and maintain relationships with markets, buyers, corporate partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with government agencies, donors, and development partners for funding, support, and market access opportunities.
  1. Monitoring
  • Track and analyze the performance of social enterprises, focusing on financial sustainability and social impact indicators.
  • Prepare reports for donors, partners, and internal review.
  • Overseeing monthly expenditures and approvals and keeping a tracking through spending plans
  • Keep track of expenditure and manage cost control and wastage
  1. Resource Mobilization
  • Develop proposals and pitches targeting funding agencies interested in social entrepreneurship.
  • Collaborate with institutes to mobilize volunteers and interns to participate in the mission and oversee their work along with the SE manager
  • Mobilize experts as pro-bono resource persons to provide input into designing, catalogue making, etc. 

Scope of Work:

·       Lead the design and operational management of Kshamata’s social enterprise.

  • Align enterprise development activities with the broader mission of empowering women and ending gender-based violence.
  • Ensure that all marketing and business activities contribute to women’s economic independence, personal dignity, and community development.
  • Build forward and backward linkages and partnerships necessary for the growth and profitability of the enterprise
  • Ensure visibility of the Enterprise through various platforms

This role is pivotal in creating a sustainable model that combines social impact with financial viability, ultimately fostering long-term independence and dignity for women survivors of gender-based violence.



Eligibility Criteria

Education and Experience:

  • Diploma/MBA in social entrepreneurship/Business management - entrepreneurship / Bachelor of Business
  • Past experience of handling small and/or mid-size enterprise (will be an added advantage)
  • Experience of working in the area of sales/marketing
  • Experience of working in the social sector (on women empowerment and livelihoods will be an added advantage)
  • Experience of working in the area of sales/marketing
  • Computer skills

Graduation - BBA
