Job Description

- Responsible for leading WaterAid India’s work on rural WASH using evidence-based advocacy

- Develop national and state advocacy strategies, key messages, policy briefs, etc under Rural WASH

- Deep engagement with nodal ministries and supporting them in achieving the national goals

- Identification of critical policy issues on WASH and guide or support Regional Offices to do the same

- Use different media to articulate WaterAid India’s position on WASH; these include, but are not limited to, websites, social media, mailing lists, print media, television, and radio

- Support regional and state teams in articulation and execution of the policy advocacy on Rural WASH

- Responsible for working with WaterAid India’s partners to organise meetings, seminars, and workshops as required

- Coordinate with  key stakeholders and other relevant policy think tanks and

Eligibility Criteria

1. Post graduation (or equivalent) qualification in one of the following areas: social sciences, international development, economics, water/natural resource management, environment, social policy, engineering, mass communication; additional qualification in water, sanitation, hygiene education will be an added advantage • Experience 1. Between 10 to 15 years of relevant work experience in similar organisational/functional context

Desired Candidate Profile

Post Graduation - Post Graduate-Other

- Comprehensive understanding of contemporary national development issues

- In-depth understanding of public policy relating to water, sanitation, and hygiene and development of credible pro?poor policy alternatives

- Demonstrable success in developing and implementing advocacy strategies that have changed attitudes, or legislation

- In-depth understanding of drivers of public policy change and decision making processes in India

- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and writing in English and vernacular, along with superior networking abilities

- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a politically sensitive environment

- Ability to forge effective working relationships at senior level external stakeholders including the media

- Experience of working with government stakeholders

- Ability to multi task
