Job Title: Associate – Economic Justice Programmes

Maitrayana Charity Foundation (meaning: kindness, benevolence, good will,
compassion) is a section 8 (not-for-profit) company that uses sport to achieve gender
equality by empowering adolescents girls and young women across Delhi, Mumbai
and Bengaluru. It has reached out to more than 125,000 participants from its
inception.
Maitrayana implements the Young People’s Initiative (YPI) a sport for development
programme that empowers adolescent girls and young women to realise their
potential. The focus of the YPI interventions is on providing access to and safe spaces
in sport for adolescent girls and young women in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru. YPI’s
economic justice programme works with young women to improve their access to
economic opportunities. This programme works with young women to pursue their
economic empowerment goals by acquiring knowledge, skills, attitudes, behaviour,
experience and support from mentors, parents and the industry to achieve their goals.

About the Role:
We are looking for a full time associate who is excited to contribute to building and
implementing Maitrayana’s interventions with young women in the apparel supply
chain.
This position requires a focus on Economic Empowerment: building awareness in
adolescent girls and young women on their rights awareness, supporting women to
focus on growth pathways in the workforce and influence change that will lead
towards gender equality in it.
Key Responsibilities
• Assessment of the Worker Situation of Young Women in Factories in South
India
o Facilitate activities to capture worker voices such as Focus Group
Discussion, Key Informant Interviews and the Drawing The Line
methodology
o Document the workers’ voices and compile them in reports
o Liaise with Brand(s) and the factory managements to facilitate
sessions/ interactions with the workers in the factories
• Implementation of Young People’s Intiative
o Implementation of the Young People’s Initiative lifeskills and netball i
programme with adolescent girls as well as the young women’s
economic justice programme.
o Practical support of the Bengaluru team in project management
activities (M&E, capacity building, peer support etc.)
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Professional qualification in Social Studies/Sociology/Social Work/
Management
• 1-3 years of experience in training or facilitation of sessions preferably in the
development sector.
• Strong communication skills.
• Fluency in Tamil is Mandatory
• Strong working knowledge of English (spoken and written).
• Highly organized
• Willing and able to travel within Bengaluru (daily) and to factories in South
India (regularly
