Job Description

The WRM- WASH Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation, and monitoring of WASH projects aimed at improving access to clean water, sanitation facilities, and hygiene practices in communities. This role requires strong project management skills, technical expertise in WASH-related issues, and the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders to achieve project objectives.


Key Responsibilities:


1. Project Planning and Development:

• Lead the development of project proposals, including conducting needs

assessments, defining project objectives, activities, and outcomes, and

establishing realistic budgets and timelines.

• Work closely with stakeholders, including donors, government agencies,

NGOs, and community representatives, to ensure project plans align

with local needs, priorities, and regulations.


2. Project Implementation and Coordination:


• Oversee the day-to-day implementation of WASH activities, including the

construction of water supply systems, sanitation facilities, and

hygiene promotion initiatives.

• Coordinate with project staff, subcontractors, and partners to ensure

the timely and quality delivery of project outputs.

• Monitor project progress, identify risks and challenges, and take

proactive measures to address issues and keep projects on track.


3. Stakeholder Engagement and Partnership Building:


• Build and maintain strong relationships with project stakeholders,

including government agencies, community leaders, local organizations,

and beneficiaries.

• Facilitate regular communication and collaboration among stakeholders

to ensure alignment of project goals and strategies.

• Identify opportunities for partnerships and collaboration with other

organizations working in the WASH sector to leverage resources and

expertise.


4. Technical Support and Quality Assurance:

• Provide technical guidance and oversight to project staff and partners

on WASH-related issues, including engineering design, construction

standards, and hygiene promotion methodologies.

• Ensure that project activities adhere to relevant technical standards,

guidelines, and best practices.

• Conduct regular site visits and inspections to monitor the quality of

construction work and address any issues or deficiencies.


5. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:


• Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation systems to track

project progress, outcomes, and impact.

• Collect and analyze data on key performance indicators to assess the

effectiveness of WASH interventions and identify lessons learned.

• Prepare regular progress reports for donors, project stakeholders, and

organizational leadership, highlighting achievements, challenges, and

recommendations for improvement.


Qualifications and Work Experience:


• Bachelor's or Master's degree in social work, social science,

humanities, Public Health, or a related field.

• At least 5-7 years of experience in project management, preferably in

the WASH sector or related fields.

• Strong technical knowledge of WASH issues, including water supply

systems, sanitation technologies, and hygiene behavior change

approaches.

• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

• Proven ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders and

multicultural teams.

• Proficiency in project management tools and software.

• Fluency in Bengali and English
