The Community Health Division (CHD) comprises of a band of exciting people who have come together and share a common vision and passion to reach out and touch the lives of the poor. Every member believes that they have been called to bring hope to the hopeless, joy to those in despair and lift people out of misery. What a delight it is to be called to bring hope, joy, knowledge, and opportunities to people who have nothing to offer in return.


The CHD being the outreach arm of Bangalore Baptist Hospital, endeavours to make a difference to the lives of the poor and marginalised living in the villages of the Bangalore Rural District and slums within Bangalore city.


All our programs have been developed on response to needs expressed by the communities.


Job Description

As a Field Coordinator for Slum Development Activities, you will play a pivotal role in facilitating and overseeing our initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of life in urban slums. Your responsibilities will include:


•Conducting community needs assessments and identifying priority areas for intervention

•Identification of slum areas

•Implementing health and slum developing activities in selected slums

•Creating awareness programs

•Developing and implementing action plans in collaboration with community members and stakeholders.

•Mobilizing resources and coordinating with government agencies, NGOs, and other partners to support project implementation.

•Providing technical guidance and support to field staff and community volunteers.

•Monitoring project progress, evaluating impact, and reporting on outcomes to management and donors.

•Advocating for the rights and interests of slum residents and promoting community participation in decision-making processes


Qualifications


•Bachelor's degree in social sciences, development studies, urban planning, or related field

•Proven experience in community development, preferably in urban slum settings.

•Strong understanding of issues related to slum dwellers, including poverty, housing, sanitation, healthcare, education, and livelihoods.

•Excellent communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills.

•Ability to work effectively in multicultural environments and with diverse stakeholders.


Salary 20,000-23,000


Proficiency in Kannada language (Tamil and Hindi are advantages)
