Job Profile for Karo’s PROJECT OFFICER - Patient Support and Care
The PROJECT OFFICER - Patient Support and Care will serve as the compassionate liaison between Karo Trust and individuals battling life-threatening illnesses, particularly cancer patients. This role demands a candidate with prior experience in engaging and interacting with cancer patients and familiarity with medical social worker departments in hospitals specializing in cancer care.
Responsibilities:
Patient Engagement and Assistance:
• Engage empathetically with cancer patients and their families who seek financial and emotional assistance from Karo Trust.
• Provide comprehensive support to patients throughout their medical journey, from pre-hospitalization to post-treatment care.
• Assist patients in navigating through paperwork and procedures required for financial aid, ensuring compliance with established protocols.
Hospital Collaboration and Networking:
• Collaborate closely with medical social worker departments and other relevant hospital personnel to identify patients in need of assistance.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with hospital authorities, doctors, and relevant stakeholders to ensure seamless coordination in patient care.
Documentation and Funding Support:
• Collect and organize necessary documents from patients and hospitals for financial assistance, adhering to standard operating procedures.
• Facilitate the approval process by presenting cases to the Trustees and obtaining necessary authorizations for funding.
Post-Care Follow-up and Holistic Support:
• Conduct home visits and maintain regular communication with patients and their families to provide holistic support throughout the treatment process.
• Ensure post-care follow-up to monitor patients' progress and well-being, offering appropriate gifts or aid as approved by the Trustees.
Administrative Responsibilities:
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient records and financial transactions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Provide timely updates on patient activities, treatment progress, and funding needs to the relevant stakeholders.
• Attend regular meetings with Trustees and Founding Members to present patient updates, seek funding approvals, and contribute to program planning.
Additional Duties:
• Assist in fundraising activities and maintain a database of network contacts and partnering agencies.
• Contribute to the organization of events and initiatives undertaken by Karo Trust as needed.
Qualifications:
• Prior experience in engaging with cancer patients and collaborating with medical social worker departments in cancer care hospitals.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to empathize and communicate effectively with patients and their families.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently while also being a proactive team player.
