Job Description: POCSO Support Person 

Sheradil Foundation is working to implement community programmes for prevention of sexual violence and enabling access to services for rehabilitation of survivors.

We are registered as a Section 8 company (non-profit organization) and are in the process of establishing our first community-based programmes in Mumbai to address the issue of child sexual abuse. We are assembling a team of dedicated and passionate individuals who are keen to make an impact by directly assisting children who have suffered from sexual abuse. 

Job Title: POCSO Support Person - Full time role (female candidates preferred)

Location: Mumbai City and Mumbai Suburban

Key Responsibilities 

• Assist child sexual abuse (CSA) victims and their families at the police station and during medical examination at the hospital. 
• Provide basic counseling and guidance for child survivors of sexual abuse, as well as their families. 
• Accompany the child and guardian for Child Welfare Committee hearings, as well as support them through various stages of the legal processes relevant for POCSO cases
• Coordinate and follow up with the lawyer who is handling the child’s case.
• Interact and follow up with government authorities, including Child Welfare Committee (CWC) members, police officials, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) officials and state commission for women and children.
• Work closely with the Director and Programme Coordinator and conduct other activities as part of our overall objectives.

Additional notes:

• Working days: Monday - Saturday (half-day shift once a week)
• As described above, the role involves extensive work in the field and is not a home/office-based role.
• Work involves regular travel within Mumbai (Western and Central lines)
• You will need a laptop for online documentation, and a good Internet connection at home for Google meets when required.
• This role will involve regular and direct handling of POCSO cases involving children who have been sexually abused 
• Remuneration: Rs. 28,000 - 35,000 based on candidate’s experience (plus travel allowance to reimburse travel expenses)

Eligibility Criteria

Required qualifications and knowledge:

• Masters in Social Work/ Masters in Psychology/ Masters in Counseling/ Masters in Child Development
• At least 1-2 years’ experience in the child rights/ child protection sector preferred (prior experience with handling POCSO cases would be a bonus) 
• Freshers are also welcome to apply
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office or similar software required for documentation in English
• Excellent comprehension of written and spoken Marathi, Hindi, and English

Desired Candidate Profile

Post Graduation - MSW

Language: Fluency required in Marathi, Hindi and English

Age: Minimum 25 years of age
