Pavitra Atma Sevika Sangh (CSC Vihaan) is a community based organization of people living with HIV positive in the Indore district Madhya Pradesh.

We are implementing “Vihaan care and support program” with the coordination of Madhya Pradesh state AIDS control society- Bhopal and technical support of Gujarat state network of people living with HIV / AIDS (GSNP+) Gujarat.

Key Functions:

ORW will lead the field activities of the CSC. They will identify and facilitate registration of PLHIV including those with special needs (children, KPs) at the CSC. In coordination with peer counsellor, they will support the PLHIV to access health and non-health services through regular follow up.

Specific roles and responsibilities of ORW •

1. Develop an action plan (preferably weekly or fortnightly) with the help of Project Coordinator keeping focus on priority clients

2. Home visit to newly initiated clients to provide treatment education, education on OIs, nutrition, healthy lifestyles and positive living, and psychosocial support. Support of peer counsellor can be taken for addressing specific issues during home visits

3. Lay counselling on treatment adherence

4. Identifying felt needs of PLHIV and linking them to required services

5. Identification of new PLHIV and registering them at CSC after providing them at least one services

6. Address verification of clients who are migrants

7. LFU tracking :

Telephonic contact of MIS cases on priority and in case they do not want to come or not visited to ART centre on said date, undertaking field visits to understand the reasons and motivate such clients to come back to the treatment

Track LFUs and report back on the status. Based on the list of LFU and MIS cases received from the ART centre, plan home visits for the defaulters, and motivate them to resume their treatment. Wherever feasible, accompany them to the services. For untraced defaulters, report the status to PC with evidence.

8. Identifying community volunteers in villages who can support ORWs in follow-up as and when required

9. Regular screening of PLHIV for TB symptoms and referral of symptomatic clients to ART centre for further diagnosis (TB screening should not be done at ART centre)

10. Provide information on home-based care to PLHIV and their family members.

11. Update the field activities in empower application on day to day basis and synchronic the same once in a week

12. Undertake advocacy by doing the following:

13. Organizing community events with the help of project coordinator and peer counsellor (e.g., health camps, fairs, festivals).

14. Organizing and participating in advocacy activities, including rapport building with other stakeholders both within government and in the community.

15. Liaise with Anganwadi worker (AWW) and ASHA for referral of eligible children and pregnant women to access supplementary nutrition.

16. Liaise with community leaders, local clubs and other social organizations to enhance their involvement in the program.

17. Facilitate filling of forms for social entitlements and schemes and hand them over to the PC.

18. Punching the data in TAB on day-to-day basis and syncing the same once in a week. (In case weekly visit to CSC is not feasible for those ORWs who are staying out districts, they can do synchronization by their own using locally available internet or synchronization time can be relaxed once in 15 days2 )
