Job Description

Position Overview

The District Cluster Coordinator cum Master Trainer will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating tobacco cessation initiatives within a designated cluster of districts in Rajasthan. This role involves supporting District Tobacco Control Cells-NTCP, routine coordination with block hospitals, training healthcare professionals and health workers , monitoring project activities, and ensuring the operationalisation of effective tobacco cessation strategies. The position demands strong leadership, extensive experience in health program management, and the ability to engage with multiple stakeholders.


Objectives of the Position:

1.Coordinate and manage district-level tobacco cessation activities.

2.Act as a Master Trainer to build capacity among health professionals and health workers at district level.

3.Ensure operationalization of tobacco cessation interventions in alignment with the project's goals.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Coordination and Management:

o Coordinate tobacco cessation activities at the district level, ensuring alignment with state and national guidelines.

o Liaise with District Tobacco Control Cells (DTCCs) and other relevant stakeholders to facilitate project activities.


2.Training and Capacity Building:

o Organise training workshops for medical officers, ASHA facilitators, ANM supervisors, and other healthcare workers to deliver brief advice on tobacco cessation.

o Deliver training modules, materials, and sessions for various stakeholders involved in tobacco control initiatives.

o Act as a resource person and provide on-site support and mentoring to trained personnel.


3.Monitoring and Evaluation:

o Strengthen reporting and review mechanisms for tobacco cessation services at the district level.

o Conduct half-yearly reviews of cessation services at districts under leadership of DTCC and provide detailed reports on progress and challenges.

o Monitor the implementation of brief advice by health workers and other tobacco cessation activities and ensure compliance with project objectives.


4.Technical Support:

o Provide technical support to district health officials in drafting notifications/ order, planning and implementing tobacco cessation strategies.

o Assist in the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for routine work and service delivery at district tobacco cessation center.


5.Collaboration and Partnership:

o Facilitate partnerships and collaboration among district-level stakeholders involved in tobacco control.

o Participate in district-level meetings of the National Tobacco Control Program (NTCP) and other relevant health programs to integrate tobacco cessation efforts.


6.Communication:

o Raise awareness about the harms of tobacco use and promote available cessation services through communication campaigns.

o Engage with local communities and stakeholders to build support for tobacco cessation initiatives.


Qualifications and Experience:

•A Bachelor of Dental Surgery with Master's degree in Public Health or Master of Dental Surgery (Public Health Dentistry), and relevant experience in tobacco cessation activities.

•Experience in public health, with a focus on tobacco control or similar health program training and capacity-building activities is preferred.

•Strong coordination, management, and organizational skills.

•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

•Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

•Proficiency in local languages and familiarity with the cultural context of the region is preferred.


Salary and Benefits

Salary: CTC of INR 50,000 per month (negotiable based on qualifications and experience).
