Job description for GNM nurse:

• GNM must have precise knowledge about each patient and whether she improves herself or deteriorates, or whether there is no progress in one or the other direction.

• GNM must speak with all patients at least once in a shift and offer them a talk about any topic that is important for them and regarding that they want the GNM nurse to listen to them.

• GNM must inform the involved doctors about each change in a patient’s health, or lack of any change.

• In medical emergency, GNM must inform doctors, ANM nurses, Secretary and other persons involved, and must take action.

• She must keep the emergency medicine tray in good condition and replace expired medicine.

• She must check all electronic machines like ECG, Monitor, suction machine, defibrillator, medicine pump, and others, and inform technical person of St. Thomas Home about any damage.

• GNM must supervise the documentation of the nurses in the patient wise files, in the medicine chart, and in other books, for example the hand over book.

• She must keep an eye on the medicine used on the ward and on the uninterrupted supply of all necessary medicine, gloves and other items of daily use.

• She must inform the authority (Secretary) about anything that may have administrative consequences.

• She must inform the authority (Secretary) about necessary discussions of any points with staff or doctors.

• She must inform the authority (Secretary) about the socioeconomic background of patients (some may need social help; others can contribute something to the expenditures of the home).

• She must keep an eye on the level of child protection in the hospital and take their wishes and complaints very seriously.

There are some other relevant duties, which will be discussed at the time of interview.

The Gross Salary per month for this post is Rs.17,800.00.
