Job opportunity for the post of Community Health Project Coordinator at Lok Biradari Prakalp Hospital, Hemalkasa

• Lok Biradari Prakalp Hospital has been serving local tribals in remote villages since 1973, located at Hemalkasa village in Bhamragad block of Gadchiroli district in Maharashtra. It caters to more than 40,000 patients annually from three states (Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Telangana) with specialized care. The hospital's mission is to provide accessible healthcare to tribal communities and improve their overall well-being. Led by Dr. Prakash Amte and Dr. Mandakini Amte, Lok Biradari Prakalp has been a beacon of community service and leadership.

• Position Overview:

• The ‘Community Health Project Coordinator’ is pivotal in coordinating and implementing community health programs. The work in this position will directly impact the lives of tribal populations in the region. We seek a passionate and dedicated individual who shares our commitment to improving health outcomes and promoting preventive care.


Responsibilities-

1. Program Coordination:

- Collaborate with local communities, health workers, and stakeholders to plan, implement, and monitor community health initiatives.

- Ensure effective communication between health centres, villages, and the hospital.

- Coordinate health camps, awareness drives, and health education sessions at Schools and villages.

2. Community Engagement:

- Engage with tribal communities to understand their health needs, challenges, and preferences through various means of community engagement.

- Conduct village meetings, household visits to promote preventive health practices and disease awareness.

- Empower community health workers (CHWs) to serve as health advocates within their villages.

3. Health Centre Management & Capacity Building of CHWs:

- Oversee the functioning of six health centres of the organization in remote villages of Bhamragad. Monitor health centre activities and ensure quality care delivery.

- Support CHWs in disease identification, treatment, referrals and daily working.

- Train and mentor CHWs on health topics, disease management, and community outreach. Organize monthly training sessions and foster a culture of continuous learning and skill development.

• 4. Reporting and Documentation:

- Maintain accurate records of patient visits, treatments, and referrals.

- Preparation of IEC materials for health education appropriate target groups.

- Compile monthly reports on health center activities. Analyze the data and prepare reports, newsletters, etc.

- Designing a proposal for various purposes. Fulfillment of the compliance of the funding organization periodically.

• 5. Miscellaneous-

- Managing intern training programs for students from various institutes at the organization.

- Relevant works as per the requirement of the organization.

• Eligibility:

• - MPH or MSW specializing in Public Health, or any medical graduate interested in public health!

• - Minimum 2 years of experience working in a relevant field is desired (preferred).

• - Basic computer skills. - Passion for working in tribal health and a commitment to community service. Preparedness to learn a new language and culture. –Language proficiency: Marathi (must), English. - 2 or 4-wheeler driving licence.
