Job Title: Project Manager, Solid Waste Management Project

Job Description:

The Project Manager will be responsible for managing and overseeing a decentralized Solid Waste Management project in the city of Jamnagar. She/he will lead the project team in developing and implementing strategies to effectively run the programme.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage the overall operations of the project including planning, operatilisation, resources allocation and budgeting.

• Engage with various stakeholders of the Jamnagar Urban programme, both government and non-government, in coordination with donor. Ensure proper coordination among all the stakeholders and donor for the efficient operation of the decentralised solid waste management effort.

• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of project activities, and make recommendations for improvement.

• Develop and implement IEC strategies and an implementation plan in collaboration with project stakeholders.

• Develop Communication materials for the project related activities

• Review regular reports, ensure quality of reporting and adherence to timelines on the project activities for project stakeholders and donors.

• Manage the project team- performance evaluation, periodic training sessions

• Identify and mitigate risks to project implementation, and propose solutions to address challenges.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor's or master’s degree in MSW, Environmental Science, or related field

• At least 4-5 years of work experience in solid waste management, of which at least 2-3 years in roles involving IEC, will be essential.

• Working specifically with the stakeholders of the waste management segment will be an added advantage

Skills:

• Proven experience in managing project activities for environmental projects, preferably in solid waste management.

• Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and teams effectively.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.

• Knowledge of IEC principles and practices, as well as solid waste management practices and regulations.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and project management software.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Language

• Good command over English is essential for reporting and communication purposes.

• Proficiency in the local language - Gujarati, is highly preferable, as it facilitates effective communication with field team & local stakeholders.
